Needle sharp teeth!! Does anybody else's Yorkie have needle sharp teeth?? I could swear Bo must have a little file hidden somewhere in his covers and he works all night sharpening!! He never bites but he loves to "mouth" us and it hurts! :( He's almost 5 months old. Are these his permanant teeth? I wonder if they sell those mesh shark suits on e-bay?? |
The sharp teeth are baby teeth and at almost 5 months old, your baby will start losing them at any moment;) The baby teeth REALLY hurt, and they bite ALOT when teething (right before the adult teeth pop through) so its best to get a good quality teething toy and sweat it out;) I got Lady and Jess special wooden toys for this stage, when ever they started to bite my fingers or toes (their favorite choice) I would give them the toy.The whole teething stage can last a while but usually stops when they have their baby teeth removed. When your baby has reached 6-7months,have a look in his mouth and see if he has a double row of teeth (baby and adult). If he does, you will have to make an apt at your vet to have the baby teeth removed.Lady had t have 8 baby teeth removed because they showed no signs of faling ut on ther own..but Jess has lost all of hers on her own.The adult teeth arent as sharp at all, they are rounded at the tips:) |
ah yes I remember baby teeth! Little monster used to think my feet were her teething toy lol! I agree with chelsie1978, something to chew on is good, a lot of people on here have recommended kong toys with a soft treat inside such as peanut butter or yougurt frozen so that it cools the puppys mouth to reduce any pain. I have no experience with having to get the baby teeth pulled as Lucy lost hers naturally but there is deffinately a difference in sharpness when the adult teeth come through!! :animal-sm |
I'm going through this right now too, my little guy is only 15 weeks old. I' waiting to neuter him until he's 6 months so they can pull any baby teeth he still has at that time. But I really hope the chewing is not going to go on until June.. My fingers and toes can't take it.. |
My little guy is 12 weeks and man, he'll chase you arund and bite at your feet. At first it tickled.. but now it just flat out hurts! It makes marks now! Boy, he's strong. |
Thanks for the advice. My vet told me last visit that Bo was teething and would begin to loose those baby teeth. The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned!! |
WHEW!!! Good to know there IS light in the tunnel with the sharp baby toofies. I have the battle scars on my arms, to show how sharp they really are. Cant wait for Chelsea to be a more "normal" puppy soon--HAHA! I love her to bits, but those toofie bites HAVE got to go! Chelsea'sMom :aimeeyork |
