Big Question for little new addition My wife Courtney and I just bought a pair of cute Yorkie pups we named Chandler and Monica. Chandler was born on 16 Jan 2006 but still has no teeth. Is this highly irregular? It feels like to me that he may have some teeth starting to come in, but it could just be his jaw bone i guess. It's a little tough to get an answer from a vet here, since both of us live in Japan (I'm in the military) and there is a slight language barrier. The vet basically told us the obvious that he has no baby teeth yet and he may not get them. Has anyone ever heard of that? Should my wife and I be flipping out right now? He is very energetic, fun, smart (sometimes), and chews on everything like he had a full set of chompers. We just don't know what to think since his playmate Monica has all her teeth and she was born 24 Dec 05. Any advice or knowledge on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Welcome to YT, Shaun!! Congratulations on your Yorkie babies. I don't know about the teeth but we have some very knowledgeable breeders on YT and I know they will be able to answer your questions!! :) BTW ... I notice you are stationed in Okinawa! We have some dear friends from here in Colorado and they are visiting there right now! Yoni is native and Okinawa was her home .... they have children/grandchildren who live there! Got a letter from her yesterday and they have extended their stay for 9 more days!! :( They are soooo sweet and we miss them terribly!! Hope you & Courtney enjoy your stay in Japan and thank you so much for your service to our country! ;) |
:D Welcome to YT!! And congratulations on your new babies! :D I have two litters that are only three days older than your little ones and their teeth are not fully in either. My little ones teeth are just now starting to break through the gums so I would say chances are they are going to coming soon on your little one. I notice overseas people tend to be getting their babies at a young age. Love the names!! :D I love Friends!! Good luck!! |
Welcome to YT!! Congratulations on you little ones :D I have no idea about your teeth question as I got my Yorkie when she was 4 months old. Just wanted to say Hello :D :D |

I don't know anything about the teeth but it looks like you are getting some answers from people who knows. Monica & Chandler! Love it! I'm a Huge "Friends" fan too! I wonder if anyone here has a Rachel & Ross? :D I'm an Army brat and visited Okinawa. Such a beautiful island. I lived at Camp Zama. Doesn't the base have a veterinarian? All the bases my dad was stationed at overseas had one. They are mainly there for the K-9 Corps but they also treated the enlisted personnel's family pets. Please post pictures of the "Kids"! |
Welcome and to get this thread back on topic..you baby does not have baby teeth because he is too young to have them! He would normally be with his mom yet and would not really need teeth as he would be nursing and eating gruel. s for the vet saying he might not get them---horse-hockey! All Yorkie puppies do get their baby teeth when they are the right age to have them. Okay, I might have offended someone but this is accurate. That baby should still be with its mommie. If I am not right, someone will correct me, I am sure.. |
The puppy doesnt have its teeth because it is too young yet. Chachi got his about 8 weeks old. |
Humpnaggie -- I have never in my life heard of a dog that didn't get teeth. I wouldn't worry about it at this young age - and not for a while after that either. I am sure (like people) there can be some variation. Don't worry! Carol Jean |
