Biting 1 Attachment(s) :( My Yorkie bites when you comb his hair or groom him. I guess, I have to comb him often so he gets use to it. :lightbulb :Puppy: He's still little. |
Younger yorkies have a tendancy to chew alot. He will outgrow that. He will also get better about letting you comb his hair the more that you do it. |
Penny used to bite and struggle every time i groomed her. But now that shes 8 months old and has been groomed almost everyday since she was 9 weeks, now she just calmly sits there and says " OH MOM NOT AGAIN .... I think they all outgrow the biting and strugglin.. Hang in there it will get better. " Good Luck "..................... :puppy2: |
Your yorkie is really cute. I;m sorry I had to chuckle when I read that he bites when you brush him. My dog does that too. He hates it. I do think its gets better. Have you tried putting him up high, like a stool or something so he can't really get away/struggle? Thor mainly fusses at me when I try to do his chest or legs...Hopefully it will get better for you! Just be persistent and don't let him have the "last word". In other words, don't stop rushing him because he is being feisty and biting. Finish with him when YOU are done, and then give him a great big treat |
I had that problem with Ruby when she was a puppy. I still do come across it every now and then. I guess she doesn't enjoy being groomed as much as I enjoy grooming her. |
Mitzi is a fidget-er :) She has her days when she just sits there and lets you get on with it too :) It just takes time until they get used to it. Hang in there and you'll see improvements eventually. :D |
I cannot believe what a fight Buddy gave us and when I say us....it took 3 adults to hold him and even at that he was biting and growling. :( Does this make him a visious dog....I am worried. He only does that with the buzzer. Well, he looks so good now that we finally finished grooming him. I kept giving him dog bones to keep him occupied which helped a lot. Is that ok that I did that? Each day, I am going to run the buzzer just so he sees it and hears it. Is that a good idea? Can you tell I am new at this. :D  :Puppy: :doghop: |
hello I'm lucky tasha sits for me..but my daughters yorkie jersey.. I can always tell when jessica is grooming cause Jersey comes flying through the living room with jess hot on her heels with brush in hand..lol it's so funny.. Once she catches her and gets to brushing her jersey finally gives in and settles down.. |
Oh, not Buddy....he is so bad with the grooming. He actually bites and growls. :( |
Is he really tuggy? You could try using a detangling spray to make the job less potentially painful. My pup wriggles at tangles and she chews the comb handle.I'm afraid to take her to the groomers yet-she is 17 weeks. She has got better since I have just persevered and praised lots. I also brush and comb when she is sleepy-less of a struggle! Hope this helps. |
Jewel struggles with me too. The only way for me to make her stop is for me to put my mouth close to her head and growl (like a mama dog). She will behave for about 20 seconds! :rollingey She drives me  |
