yorkieagility | 03-29-2005 07:43 PM | Yorkies can be very active. In a flyball tournament my yorkie probably runs about 2-3 miles in a weekend. However, I try to keep her fit and conditioned to do all the running. I did have mine check for slipping knee cap before we competed...
By the way, "slipping kneecap" or Patellar Luxation is inherited or congential. If he has it, he has it no matter what he does.
Honestly, I think it is great that you are jogging with your yorkie. I'm sure it is lot of fun having him accompany you. If you are afraid he may have slipping kneecap, have your vet check him out. It wouldn't be a bad idea especially since he will be very active.
Have fun jogging!!!!
Just remember: like any athlete, he need to stretch and warm up before he starts and cool down afterward. |
