Hello everyone, my name is Pat. I joined the group the last November, and have signed in several times but I just with the help of the administrators and my daughter figured out how to post a message. Thank all for their assistance. I am not a Yorkie owner at this time but I plan to purchase one if he is right for my lifestyle. I am a retired widow, my daughter and I live in an apartment, the only pet I have at the time is a parakeet (and he actually says many different words and phrases)and to top it all off I have no grandchildren. I've been retired for three years and now I feel like I need a little something running around making a little noise. Thank you for the warm acceptance and I think the site is extremely nice and very informative, am enjoying it thoroughly. Thanks Pat

Thanks chachi, I love dogs anyway always have. In fact this is the first time in my adult life I am without a dog really. So I think it's about time now. Pat

Welcome to YT, Pat!! Glad you found us ... we're pretty good people! :) Our Toto will be three years old in July and she is our absolute joy! The Yorkie has the sweetest personality and the most intelligence of any dog we have ever seen. Patrick still works but politely requested that I retire and stay home with Toto. She is so much fun but we have spoiled her rotten and she demands attention 24/7!! ;)

Thank you, I already love this site. In fact as I was looking at the different breeds and decided to look at the yorkie this site as what made me take a second look. Very interesting as I am not familiar personally with the yorkie, I've owned shih tzu and cockers now I want something a litle smaller even with the coaty I think I'm at the point where I will enjoy grooming as I can take all the time I need. Pat

And I agree 100%, I think so too, love the size and hope I get one that likes to play and all but also likes to be cuddled, and at times be a couch potato with me. Pat

You know I couldn't wait to retire and always said I was going to do absolutely nothing which I've done for 3 years but now I've got to find something to do that I really enjoy and I love dogs period but since I'm not getting younger I'm thinking definately thinking small something I can handle but first and foremost nice temperment and disposition. Pat

I'm glad I found you too and I'M 98% sure the yorkie will be my final decision in fact at this point it is the only breed I'm researching. Now it's just finding that special one. Pat

Hello, I like the encouragement I'm getting in reference to the yorkie. They are sooo cute they have to be special. I also like the fact that they are said to be very intelligent because I like trying to teach them different things. Pat

Hi Pat! Welcome!

I'm Corinne and I live in Southern California with my husband Dan & two "Blessing from Heaven" we call Jazzie and Jewel. Jazzie is very calm and smart, Jewel is a Happy-Go-Lucky Dennis the Menace in disguise!

I don't know what kind of personality you are looking for but if you can, visit a few breeders and spend time with the parents (or would be parents) and look to them for a clue to the kind of puppy you want. Even within the same breed, temperment can be quite different from one dog to another like our Jazzie & Jewel.

Yorkies are very intellegent and can be mischevious. They will keep you entertained 24/7 if you let them! :) Most yorkies I've known tends to keep the playful puppy like personality so they will have you laughing and keep you moving. But because they are smart, they are easy to train to mind you when you want them to.

I'm sure the right puppy will find you!

Welcome to YT Pat :D You sure found the right place for information. I'm pretty new here myself, and I've been a Yorkie owner for just over one month :D
Honestly, getting a Yorkie was THE BEST thing I've ever done :D
What a joy she is to look after, and the love you get in return is amazing!!! I may be biased, but I highly recommend Yorkies to the whole world! :)
Good luck in deciding on your future little puppy. Whatever you decide....show us the pictures OK :D

Pat - I'm glad you found YT! You will absolutely love a yorkie. Like I said be careful, you bring home one yorkie, the next thing you know you have to have two. Look how many members have 2+ yorkies. Your new baby will quickly become your life, which is a good thing. You will wonder what you did before you had a yorkie. Good Luck in your search for your new baby.
