Help I have a 9 week old yorkie. I also have a 3 year old spoiled bischon the yorkie has been around other dogs all her life my bischon has not been around many other dogs so the yorkie is sooooo excited to see the bischon but she is not as excited. The yorkie is always jumping on the bischon and biting at her ears the bischon has never tried to hurt the yorkie but she just seems out of sorts with her and will growl and moan at her and run away from her. What can I do ?? Is this normal behavior?? We have had the yorkie about 1 1/2 weeks and I would have thought they would have been laying together by now ???? :( :( :( |
I just got a new addition too...congrats. Anyways I have a 3yr old yorkie male and we got a puppy. Needless to say Chance(puppy) loves Remmy. He does not love him. He growls everytime he gets near him and snaps. But he has not bitten him and I keep a close eye on them both. However I think Remmy is teaching him manners. The puppy has to learn not to bite and be in Remmy's face. And he is learning....I'm hoping that time will make them friends. But I also think that Remmys attitude is one of the down falls of a puppy leaving its mother and siblings to soon. I got Remmy when he was 8 weeks old and they need to stay with thier mom and siblings until 12 weeks old. So they may never be best buds but I think they can learn to live together in harmony. Yup, What Chris said :D It's a lesson in doggy manners. They'll be fine soon. Just give them time :D |
I hope your right we got our yorkie ( Rosie) when she was 8 weeks old also. She also does really good in her crate during the day but at nighttime its not so good she squeals like a mad bird it's awful do you suggest putting the dog in the crate by the bed or sometimes the noise has been so loud I put her in the basement in the laundry room to get some sleep. I feel so bad doing this but I can't keep getting up 2-3 times everynight for her to play it's not so much she needs to go potty but the breeder never put her in a cage just a gated off room but I tried that and she climbs the gate all the way over.. I am thinking about buying an exercise pen?? she will probable climb it also. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated :) |
Your Yorkie is just acting like she should, she's a puppy. Your Bischon isn't sure if this puppy is here for a lifetime friend, or just a visit. It's only been a week and a half. Give it a little more time, I'm sure they will become best friends. :) We would love to see pictures! :D :D :D |
what I have experienced with my Yorkie (Kloey) (9mon old) and my Husky (Malahn) (3 yr old), when we brought Kloey home her and Malahn became best friends, I'm not sure if it's cause Malahn is bigger then Kloey, but when Kloey is eating and Malahn comes over to see what she has, Kloey will get really definsive and start growling at her. Sometimes it's like Kloey thinks shes the big dog, she dont realize how small she really is LOL But for the most part they get along really well, they even sleep together when napping. |
