Dog License How many of you license your Yorkies? Mine is always in my yard, or leashed so I never gave it much thought. Thanks. Kate |
My service & therapy dog is licensed with the city. Haven't licensed otherwise. |
here, they call rabies tags, license tags... is that something different? |
When we moved into our new condo you were required to have a license for your dogs...so I got both my dogs their license before moving in.... and then there was no required or obvious way to inform the strata of their license #'s. What a waste of money!! |

Our dogs and cats have to be licensed in our city. Even our cat who has never went outside for 6 years. If we do not pay the yearly license fee we are fined $250. There are different rules in every city. I pay mine but grumble lots when I write the cheque. |
where i am, you get the rabies tags when the pet gets vaccinated for rabies. the number on the rabies tag can then be used to obtain a license tag from the municipality. licensing is a form of registration for the pet. it is required (around here anyways) that dogs are licensed (cats are optional) to avoid a fine if the dog is picked up by animal control. to get your reclaimed pet from the shelter or animal control, licensing is required. licensed pets also get a longer grace period at the shelter for the owner to come back and pick up the pet than one that is not licensed. licensing is pretty cheap. $30-something for 3 years for a neutered/spayed pet, it's a little over twice that if the pet is not fixed. my city imposes a fine on owners who do not register their pets on time, within 1 month of ownership or before the pet turns 5 months old. bunjee has been ill so he hasn't gotten is rabies shot yet. but once he does, i'll get him licensed as well. |
In PA your pet (dog or cat) have to have a license once they turn 6 months old. It is like $8.00 for neutered or spayed and $12 if not (I could be wrong on these, but it isn't real high). They also have to have a rabies shot and rabies tag. The licnese and rabies are two different things, but both are mandatory. |
not me I got my first yorkie when I was young and didn't know about the licensing. I took him everywhere and moved a lot and it was never an issue. Depending on the vaccine regulations here (if they except titers) will determine if I license. My dog is not going to be a big dog who roams the streets so I'm not worried. I have many friends who take excellant care of their dogs but do not license because of the vaccine demands. suzie |
We have to license Toto in Mesa County, CO in addition to rabies tag. Our vet does it all! ;) |
It's not required here :) |
