Help! Stair problems!  All of a sudden my little chicken has gotten very brave. He went bounding up my very steep staircase today! My steps are deeper than standard (about 8 inches) and a long landing at the top which has a balcony effect and the spindles are wide enough to fit thru and the drop is 10 feet! Although he can zoom up the stairs getting down is very tricky and he has fallen down because the risers are so high! |
He has to learn where he needs to plant his feet when he comes down the stairs. To help him learn how to do it, start from the bottom of the steps. Let him come down from last step from the ground. Do that a couple of times and then move one step up and let him come down from that. Keep moving one step up until he is at the top of the stairs. You may have to teach him "easy" or "slowly" on the way so he will not try to come down the stairs at warp speed(at least not until he know where is footing is). try it and see if it helps. good luck. |
i would either block off the area or block the slots so your baby doesnt fall |
I would definately block the spaces between the spindles. Believe me if you don't, you could lose her very quickly. My elderly aunt's dog fell like that and broke her back, and couldn't walk anymore, she also didn't live very long after that. So, please, please, get some netting, or something and close it off. They are so rumbuncious and it only takes a seconed for a tragedy to happen! PLEASE do this! Pat |
