can you walk your dog woth or with out a leash i was wonder if you can walk you dog with out a leash? |
walking It would depend on the dog and where you walk them. IF you have a dog who is poorly trained and you live on a busy street, a place where there are alot of big dogs, and other dangers, I would not walk them off lead. You can have a well trained one who might be injured off lead...but you could go to a play yard or park that is fenced and allow them to run and play. I have never walked mine off lead..ever. |
Ya.. depends on where you walk. I walk Guinness on my street without leash.. but not on main road.. because there are many cars and people walking. My street is very quiet.. and if I call him, he comes to me right away.. He doesn't go far.. |
Ha! Yep I can walk my Yorkie without a leash. Of course, HE's not walking - he's running around sniffing the ground like a madman! |
If we are on the street-then on leash! At a park/beach-depends on the rules-some are on leash only. Her favourite walks are off leash down by the river.she comes back well and stays closeish! |
bunjee can probably walk okay off leash on a quiet street. but i've never walked him outside off leash. no need to take the chance that he might run after piegons or other dogs just because he's curious. i can just imagine him taking off to say "hi" to another dog across the street and get hit by an oncoming car. imho, it's just not worth the risk. |
I walk him unleashed at the park where I can see a long way in all directions. My fear isn't him running away but another dog attacking. I haven't walked dogs unleashed in the street since my brother killed my golden/irish setter mix as kids (Do I sound bitter or what?) I don't care how well behaved they are, there are some things they are going to chase. |
I'm in the process of trying to teach Tino. We went to the beach a couple of weeks ago and he just walked by my side until we got out to the sea. But then my boyf came over and shouted him and started running in the opposite direction so Tino started running after him but it ended up Steve running after tino - very funny to watch!! ha ha ha! :D |
Nope, I won't do it. I am too paranoid. I will take them to dog parks and let them run unleashed in an enclosed area, but no, I won't let them walk unleashed outside. There's too many scary things in this world!! :( |

If I want , I can take a walk with Gazou and Heidi without a leash but as I am a responsible owner , I will never do , it is too risky . Even a trained dog can have unsuspected reactions . |
sadly no Kelly our eldest Yorkie is a maniac. I'm still trying to teach her to heal and sit at curbs. And our newest member Daisy, she's still discovering what walking is. |
I don't believe I would do it even if I could. At this point Ollie won't even move when the leash is on, so we don't take walks. Around the acreage they are never on a leash. |
There is a leash law here, so it is not an option...but when I was younger I had a military trained dog that walked next to my leg as if on a leash...by himself... I don't know that I would ever have enough faith in a dog that I had trained... Bren |
I live on 7 acres... I can walk my oldest 4 yorkies (Mickey, Rocky, Lucy and Penny) around the property without leashes... My others???? ... I think they would take off into the woods... never to be seen again!!! :D None of them are used to being around cars... so I don't think they would manage well without a leash in town. |
