Duh!!! I use a boars hair brush on my own head. My hair is down my back, Is it okay to use a brush that is for mine on her? She really hates that slicker type thingy the groomer had me buy when I first got her. |

brushes There is nothing wrong with boars hair or any natural bristle. As a long time groomer of Yorkies I... Use a spray..you do not want to brush a dry coat if you are going for a show coat..meaning, as little breakage as possible. I use a bit of very diluted Coat Handler rinse in a spray bottle of water. Lots of stuff works..just dilute it so you can use everyday or so. I run the uncovered pin head through the coat...then I use a fine toothed metal comb on the face and paws..wider tooth on the rest of the body. Then I rebrush and spray with a bit of coat finisher like Vellus, or All Systems stuff..so much to pick from..lotsof good suggestions in past posts. A Mason Pearson is the very best natural bristle, but expensive. |

Thanks. |
groomer That is the very reason I was "forced" to start grooming. My puppy owners refused to go to shops. Call all the vets in the area and ask if anyone knows a home groomer(grooms in their home or yours) If so ask to talk to their Yorkie clients. IF not call a few Yorkie breeders and ask if any groom? I would go to a vet office groomer rather then a shop..you have recourse with the vet if anything goes wrong..plus if the dog gets hurt it is at the vets office already. Usually, "in house vet groomers" knows the vet oversees the business and can be sued..so they hire more reputable groomers..at least where I came from that was so. |
Pat! That is terrific advice. Thanks again for your wonderful posts! |
