Calling all mommies . . . . that have a full time job yet managed to take care of more than one yorkies (or another dog breed) . . . .I am getting my second yorkie (possibly end of March) and I need to know how you guys multitask everything and make it look easy - between juggling work, attending to the furbabies as well as managing the household. I wanna make sure that I don't neglect my hubby, keep up with the chores to maintain a clean home and still give my furbabies the time they deserve . . . he is kinda reluctant for me to get another one so I want to prove him wrong. I don't want him to tell me later "I TOLD YOU SO" . . . So please share your ideas, tips, routines to share, anything to make life easier, most especially when dealing with 2 furbabies. |
I am telling you what having 2 is so so so much easier than having one. Believe it or not they will keep each other entertained enough that you wont have to give your full attention to them all of the time. My girls play together when I am cooking, cleaning, or doing whatever. Before when I just had Chloe trying to cook or clean was a chore bc she was constantly standing right underneath my feet wanting me to play. I think that you will definetly find it easier to have 2 :D |
PHEW...well let me catch my breath first... :) As a mommy of 2, Lyric-our brand new baby boy and Emma-my little girl maltese, a full time night student, and working full time, let me tell you... It does get ROUGH at times. Mostly because I want to spend so much time with them and my boyfriend Mike. I HATE having to come home and rush right out the door 30 mintes later when I do have school. I'm so glad I'm almost done-only 2 quarters left :D But luckily for me, their daddy loves them just as much as I do. He plays with them while I'm gone and then when I am home, I get to spoil them. Cleaning can get interesting. Miss Emma follows me around from room to room and just loves to "help" me. She steals stuff and runs away with clothes or towels. We make it a kind of game between us. I end up laughing more than cleaning, so I guess it makes cleaning better anyway!! Weekends are big for us, Mike and I try to spend lots of time with them. now Emma has her little brother to keep her busy during the week, so that makes me happy to! |
I worked full time,1 yorkie and a newborn baby. (I'm a stay at home mom now.) I assigned myself 1 chore a day, Sunday was Laundry day, Monday I cleaned the kitchen spotless, Tuesday the livingroom, Wednesday the bedrooms, Thursday the Kitchen again, Friday the bathrooms and Saturday was dinner day. I cooked all of my meals for the week in one day and froze them so that I could have a homecooked meal for dinner everynight as well as for lunch at work. I spent one hour max on these chores daily (except for laundry and dinner). When I got home from work I really only had 1 hour to get my newborn feed, bathed and into PJ's before bedtime, and Gracie waited paitently. Then I would spend some time with Gracie, do my 1 chore for the day, and then spend the rest of the evening with her. It worked out pretty good for me. Very structured, but worked. I actually think that having 2 yorkies would have made it alot easier! Oh, and the mornings were my time. I got up at 5am and had 1 hour to myself before I got Gracie up, then we played together for an hour then I would get Mia up and leave for work at 7:30am. |
I don't know if my two together are way easier then one but they are still good for eachother i think. I had my 5 year old pom first and he is so good and then I got my yorkie and because she is a baby she is easily distracted. Therefore when we are outside and my pom is going to the bathroom my little ellababy is right there to grab whatever is falling and run with it. going to the bathroom takes more time and stuff like that but it is definitely possible and not too hard to do. Especially for dog lovers, it's like having another kid and one is a newborn. Probably not to the same degree but you know what I mean, it's training all over again. It's fun though!!!! |
