Panting in the car Does anybody now why my 5lb yorky would start panting in the car. He never pants other wise. He rides in the car alot and just recently started doing it about a month ago. he pants really hard with his tongue sticking out, I have tried to put air on him, put heat, it's really weird. Any ideas? |
Jasmine does the same thing. She pant the whole time we are in the car. I have no idea why. That is the only time she does it. She also shakes. I don't know if it is from the exitement of going (she does seem to like to go with me) or she is nervous. |
My guess is that he is Nervous. :shocked7q |

lexi does the same thing, it drives me insane. open the window, they really do need air...also, make sure he is lifted to see out the window or he might get nauseous and throw up....sometimes that works... i dont think lexi will ever get used to the car, ive had her in the car since she was a baby and hasnt gotten used to it yet.... |
Lilah does the same thing, and I think it's because the air gets "stuffy" in the car. One time we were just sitting in the driveway and she was panting, so I know it wasn't because she was nervous or car sick. |
Rosi does the same thing, she is 11mo. old !!!! And we drive alot ! |
panting If it is not hot, anxiety and excitement are the number one reasons for panting. It does not take much to get a Yorkie excited..sitting in the car is exciting to mine. |
Trixie does that too. I think she just gets nervous. |
My dogs do this in the car also -- but not always - only occasionally. Who knows why. It's hard for me to think they're stressed because they go ape and are happy happy happy whenever they think they can go for a ride. They love going anywhere with me. Sometimes, I've wondered if it wasn't the car radio - or the air conditioner - or the heat blowing on them... whatever! Maybe we'll never know...... Carol Jean |
Jewels does this and some times she gets sick. I think its because of nervousness. |
I am just guessing here but it seems like I heard that panting is like a dogs air conditioner. He may be hot because of the car or have that warm feeling that comes with being a little nauseated. I would try putting him in a covered carrier just to see if it still happens. |
romeo does it too. i crack his window. then i offer him water. |
Mitzi just looks out the window. I'm sure she'd love to stick her head out, but they drive like crazy poeple here!! I don't want her to end up without a tongue! LoL! I haven't noticed any panting, I'll pay more attention. :) So if she pants it means she's nervous? ok :) |
My dog Ted pants all the time in the car. He's always nervous and usually ends up getting sick all over! I just can't take him anywhere... |
