How do you weigh your yorkie? Do you have a special scale to weigh your baby on or is there a certain one I can buy? |
I weigh Cocoa on a normal digital scale that we (the people) use. It's quite accurate as the result is pretty similar to what I get whenever I weigh Cocoa at the pet hospital. If you want a more accurate result (or if your puppy is very small), I guess you can also pick up a small package scale (you know, the kind that they use to weigh packages)... I remember seeing it at office supply stores like Staples, OfficeMax and OfficeDepot... for the price ranges from $20-$40. |
Ebay has postal scales you can buy. They are pretty small so they don't take up alot of space. I am planning on buying one. |
I have an E-bay business so I use my postal scale. The only downside is mine only reads ounces so I still have to divide by 12. |
I too use a normal digital scale. I think it's pretty accurate as well. |
Ounces to Pounds I have an Ounce scale myself. 16oz. = 1lb. I just divi. it up by 16 to whatever my yorkie weighs. Here is a good Link to convert Oz. to Lbs. or vice versa. http://www.onlineconversion.com/weight_common.htm |
yorkie scales I purchased a nice chrome antique looking scale at Wal-mart! It was in the dishware section and is very easy to calibrate and keep accurate. It looks like the old time scales that were found years ago in a grocery store fruit section. It has a large removable bowl on it that the smaller pup sits in. I remove the bowl and put a flat surface like a wood cutting board on it and recalibrate it to 0 with a twist of a knob. (My adult dogs prefer the flat surface weigh in.) Check to see if it's still offered at a reasonable cost... I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but it was under $40 then. Glenda |
I figgered my diet scale might as well get some use, so it sets on my kitchen counter where it is always handy--- to weigh my pups..he-he-he |
to weigh I stand on a regular scale holding Jackson in my arms. Then I just weigh myself. Subtract my weight from our combined. |
On the postage scale at the office! I just deduct the weight of the bowl to get Gracie's weight! |
My husband ordered a regular digital "baby" scale online for about $70. It has a "hold" button and averages the weight to accuracy for a wiggly baby. Works really well. |
I too have always just weighed myself and then picked Gracie up and stood back on the scale then did the math...it has always worked pretty well unless you have a very small puppy. |
I was going to take my yorkie up to Publix the grocery store and use their scale. Although, it's probablly full of germs etc. maybe not such a good idea.lol. Ordering one through Ebay sounds like a good idea. |
Thanx for the replies everyone! I will checkout ebay and walmart! My scale at home (which I avoid) is not very accurate so that won't do. |
