Wanna trade?? One small 4 pound, 9 month old male Yorkie, silky coat, neutered, crate trained, housetrained and beautiful...but...he's starting to bark and he's making me crazy!! I'd be willing to trade for one like him that doesn't bark...any takers?? Just kidding of course ;) Jo is so quiet...like they say...he wouldn't say **** if he had a mouthful but Riley can bring you right out of your seat when he barks. Where do these little bitty dogs get all the volume?? Maybe I'll try the pennies in the can trick. |
For a minute I thought you were serious! I had to start reading faster so that I could reach the punch line :p |

LOL, Try having an African Grey Parrot who sounds just like your Yorkie!!! I even went looking for a barking furbaby, I knew it wasn't Princess because she was on my lap. It was Helen, our Parrot. It's non stop around here.   |
My girls really arent noise makers! So I dont know what to tell ya! |

My pup isn't much of a barker either. But I'd be the first one to admit that a barking little Yorkie (or any other dog) could drive a person bonkers. I have had mine bark occasionally for a few minutes - and, I know, for a fact, that the quality of my life would be seriously compromised if I had to listen to that a lot of the time. It's no fun - and you have my sympathy. Please do try the pennies and can trick - some people say it works. A woman at my Vet's office said she cured her dogs of barking by spraying their mouths with Binaca (the mouth spray) every time they started barking for any extended period of time. (We're not talking about an occasional bark.) She said they got so that they would bark a couple times and then turn around to see if she was coming with the Binaca. You know what it's like. It's just a very somewhat surprising, flavorful spray - that they just hate? She said her dog trainer told her to do this - and she said it really helped keep her dog's barking down to a minimal more normal amount. If I were you - I'd try anything and everthing. Good luck! Have you tried teaching a "quiet" command? |
Hmmm... I'm giving this more thought... Wanna trade your barker for my 2 teenager sons who have major attitudes these days? :D |
LOL, I tell that to my little girl. But I tell her that I am going to make a carpet out of here. She looks at me when i say it like girl if I were a person I would sell you!!!!!! |
barking I have had a few barkers in the past years. One of my favorite things was a hand held electronic Bark Stopper...it was about the size of a pack of cards. It made a loud beep and got the barkers attention. I kept it in my pocket and used it in the kennel...my yelling "shut up" was ignored, squirt bottles soaked their coats and the floor, pennies in the can was good, but I needed something I could keep in a pocket. |
I'll trade ya! I'll take your little barker and you can have my hubby! ;) :D :D |
