Oh Wow, good job at getting her out of there. I don't know what to tell you. I know there are some on here who can probably help you out. someone with some experience with rescues. I hope she learns to trust and allowed to be loved. Sorry, I forgot to welcome you to YT. I know there is help here for you. |
PATIENCE :) When little ones come into a new situation they are scared and they need to be gently handled and kept in a quiet situation until they become more comfortable with you. No sudden moves and spend time on the floor with her coming to you. It would help if you had little treats so everytime she came to you she would get a reward. I would not take her out to new situations or crowds until she learns to trust you. Keep everything low key and soon she will become more relaxed. How much do you know about Yorkies? Pet stores have a book called Yorkies for dummies, that would help you. Your little girl should be feed twice a day and it should be very good quality food. Have you taken her to the vet for a checkup yet? How old is she? |
I don't have experience with rescues, but I would guess that you should try to make her feel safe. Maybe get her a crate or a playpen, a small surrounding that would make her feel safe and secure. No loud noises around her, just calm and quiet. Pet her gently and talk to her in a calm but loving voice.... just a suggestion, like I said, I don't have experience with rescues! I wish you the best and it is great that you rescued Angel! Welcome to Yorkie Talk !!!!! |
Welcome to YT! I also took in someone else's dogs, although they did not have nearly the dangerous situation your new little angel has gone thru. I would recommend spending as much time with her as possible. The more hours you can spend with her, the quicker she will adjust to you and warm up to her new home. If you leave a room and she does not follow. Take her with and sit her down in that room and encourage her to explore. Love, reassurance and consistency are very important. Trust yourself. This is a great place to learn so much about Yorkies   :aimeeyork :) Yorkiesmiles |
Hello and welcome. It will take time for her to gain trust in you. But it will be well worth the wait. Get down on the floor to her level and just talk sweet to her .........She will soon gain your trust and love you forever. |
she is one and a half and she will be going to vet soon. but here is where it really gets interesting. i have a maltese that is one month younger than angel. is that going to be a problem. i hope not because i love them both so much. while i was writing this she came up and set on my lap. but back to the maltese and yorkie deal. the maltese is super friendly and will get along with everything but the yorkie snap a the maltese early tonight but they are stayng there distance right now. also she wont eat is that normal in a new situation? |
