Greenies Hello, I live in Lancaster PA, and I just heard in the news that a daushand died after getting a greenie stuck in its throat and a woman spent 1,200 trying to save her husky's life after also having a greenie stuck in it's throat too. Sadly the husky did die. I stopped giving my dogs the greenies just to be safe. Just thought I would share this with everyone. Crystal  |
That's Terrible! Thanks for sharing. You would think with all the problems they are having the makers would re-call greenies! |

you would think huh? but this has been a on going struggle for some time now. and nothing's been done. I just wish they would have more coverage on this topic on television. People since seeing this on tv have returned their greenies to the store I work at. which is a very good thing. I've only given tigger two. and he doesn't really like them. He loves denta greens though. he'll chew on those forever. |
I went onto petfooddirect.com and they are having a sale on Greenies. I wonder why?! :animal36 |
Greenies have been banned in our house, as well. I too think they should be recalled, but all they say is that the owners need to watch their dogs with the greenies, as with any other treat, etc. So, I think that is where they are being saved right now.....because "it is up to the owners to make sure their pets are eating and chewing their product the right way". I have asked my vets about Greenies and the dangers associated with them and they still say that Greenies are safe.....but, I am not taking that chance. I remember someone posted awhile back about Greenies and said that if you cut a small piece off (about the size of one of the greenies bits or what your pet might normally chew off) and soak it in water, it expands. We did this and our piece didn't just double in size it quadrupled in size. And it was a rubbery stretchy consistency....YUCK! |
Greenies... :thumbdown Our local pet store sells them still too, I asked the owner about what he thought, he said He doesnt give them to his dog anymore, and considered NOT selling them, and asked a few people that buy them if they would be upset, because of the contoversy, if he quit selling them, and he said quite a few people got mad that he would carry them so he said, as long as they sell he will carry them, he said YES they had heard all the problems with them, and said it was to small an amount to be concerned  Any amount of concern and even one death, is enough for me, He liked them, but he'll never miss em. ;) |
Killers Greenies are KILLERS.........keep spreading the word! |
