question for people w/dog strollers We are going on vacation in a couple of months. I am thinking of getting Jackson a stroller. I wanted to know if anyone has been able to sneak their dog into a museum, restaurant or store in one. |
I am also wondering where people have taken their yorkies in strollers. I think they are really neat but I don't know where I would take Lilah in one! |
I don't have a stroller, but the ones I have seen do not cover up the pup enough to sneak into restaurants, etc. You can always see the dog inside. If you are going to be sneaking a dog into restaurnants, etc, you need "stealth factor". We use a bag with black netting (there are many different makes and models) that looks like a large purse or tote bag. |

But I have seen pictures of strollers with black netting |
My daughter got Mickey and Minnie a stroller for Christmas , We havent took them out in it yet . But plan to this summer. I have put them in it a few times to see how they do and push them around the house to get use to it. LOL They seem to love it. I plan to use it for walks this summer. and to the kids ball games. Hoping it will help keep all the little kids at the park from wanting to touch them. Plus I think its going to be very helpful in going to our towns festival this year. everyone brings their dogs and I wont have to worry about some big dog coming over and hurting my babies. |
I have snuck Stewie around in his stroller. It covers him up completely so you cannot see him at all. I would never bring him into a restaurant because I do not believe in violating health codes, but malls, museums, etc should be OK |
stroller Yes..it is easy if yoru dogs is not a barker..put a small baby blanket over the screened part and no one will know. |
Please don't sneak your dog into places they aren't allowed. I know a lot of you think this is okay - and cute - and funny - but you shouldn't do it. Especially restaurants ----- My brother-in-law owns a restaurant and occasionally has people trying to sneak their pets in. He loves dogs, but could be severely fined by the Health Department for having a dog there. And - not only that - even if he didn't see the pup - and a customer reported him, he would be in trouble and be fined. I'm sure some places aren't as serious an offense as other places might be. And, I know our little dogs tucked away and hidden aren't apt to cause any problems, but restaurants definitely are not a good place to take our little pets. Carol Jean |
Recently I took Baby Blessing in her shoulder carrier into Barber shop with Jack to get his hair cut and the barber reminded me that he could get heavily fined if the health inspector came in, I didn't know they weren't allowed in a barber shop. Even in our local mall it is one of their rules also. This is in Calif. |
I have one for Princess. I don't sneak her in, but we go to the Mall all the time with no problems. They don't say any thing when we are there, most people stop to pet her. There was a time when we were at Macys, a Lady had her furbay on a lead, and was asked to leave, but we were right there, and they didn't say any thing to us. We never go into restaurants, but storres are different, we are there all the time. |
Pushing dogs around in strollers? I've heard everything now!! ;) |
Okay, no restaurants but it's a dumb rule! You can take your dog to places that have outdoor cafes and in Europe you can take them inside! My dog is better behaved than most people's kids and he doesn't throw food or temper tantrums. My brother used to own a bagel store and he would get annoyed because people would put their toddlers up on the counter while they paid. Who wants some kid's stinky diaper bottom where they put food? Also I see people who work in these stores handle money then touch your food! In my town a lot of the hair salons have dogs there (belong to the owners) why couldn't dogs be allowed in hair salons? Sorry, I digress... |
I don't think malls are that bad ---but you could walk around a mall for hours without being noticed by anyone whose job it is to remind you that pets aren't allowed. I had to run into Safeway with mine -- and, I was positive that I would be asked to leave. But, it was the night that I unexpectedly took my new little puppy home - and I had to stop and buy the foods that I was told to get. I certainly could have left him in the car for a few minutes - but it was bitterly cold. My thoughts were that if I was asked to leave - I would take my puppy home and then go back to the store (a 5 mile drive each way) --but I would have done that with no problem. Anyway - I ran through that store as fast as I could go with the little puppy inside my jacket - next to my chest - got my stuff and got out quickly with no problem. Of course, a few people saw him and thought he was cute, but all I really wanted to was get his food and get home. I am sure that dogs are not allowed in the Safeway store - I was just lucky. And, under no other circumstances (then I mentioned) would I take him into a store. There are a lot of places I can take my dogs - where they are welcome. We visit our relatives, friends, and neighbors all the time. They love going out to the lake - and they've been to Petco and another pet store in my area. They have gone to work with me a couple times for a while. And when the weather's nice, they love to ride anyplace with me. These are the times they have to wait for me in the car. And - I make sure these are places and times when I won't be away from my car for more than a few minutes. They love car rides. I wouldn't ever try and sneak them into places where I know they shouldn't be. Not good! And not nice! Carol Jean |

Yes it has little holes in it .like net. |
Emmie is fine with her stroller as long as people don't poke their fingers at the net and at her. Then she barks at them. Our new puppy Izzy B. does not like being inside the stroller so we put her puppy bed on top of the stroller where the cup holder is and she rides on top. So far, we have taken them to a Mall in Amarillo and outside of Dallas, to several furniture stores, to Lowes, lots of arts and craft shows. We have been asked to leave Home Depot (to their loss) because we are refurbishing a 2-story home and spending a fortune but Lowe's welcomes our babies with open arms!!! We had snuck Emmie into Wal Mart a year or so ago several times before we had the house in Amarillo and would drive 2 hours to shop and it would be too hot to leave her in the car, and we didn't have a place to leave her in Amarillo. We never, ever went into the food section, and I am like the other person who answered here - there are little kids running around spilling their drinks on the floors, pulling stuff off the shelves, pooping and puking on the carts, but they won't let our little contained puppies in the store!!!!! Oh, well. We live in a very small town (2500 people) and have been thrown out of Dollar General and our local donut shop (the one time I year I went in for 5 minutes!!!). I have noticed most store owners don't mind, though, as long as they are in a stroller, bag or in your arms, and not down running around. We just went to a new furniture store in Amarillo last week where a "concierge" sp?? met us at the door. We asked if it was okay to bring them in (in the stroller) and he said it was okay as long as they did not run around on the floor. But now that we have a house in Amarillo we tend to leave them at home more. :animal36 |
i have a dog stroller . actually i got the biggest one i could fine. I actually paid $200.,its the exact size of the Graco Tandem, the only difference is that it has the zipper screen . I live in the bronx and my babies get car sick, so i go on the train. My mom lives about 10 minutes by train , so my babies love to be in the stroller. Ive sneeked into Kmart and several other stores untill my male yorkie decided he wanted to let everyone know he was inside. My female loves to lay down inside and relax. Its the best investment ive made :D |
The first one we got was the green one with the green mesh. We only had Emmie then and we took her down to Old Town in Albuquerque. We could not walk two steps without people stopping and asking us where we got the stroller. I could have sold a trunk full of them that day!!! People were even taking pictures of her in the stroller. But we discovered she didn't like being so close to the ground and people hovering over her so we got the one that sits up higher and is more like a baby stroller. She seems to like it much better. I am hoping once Izzy B. is out of "puppyhood" she will enjoy being inside the stroller also as it is plenty big for both of them. |
Soooo Cute!!!!!!! They are soooooooo cute!!!!!!!. I just love Yorkies!!!!!!! Iam getting my first Yorkie on Tuesday. Its a male and I think my 6 yr old has already taken ownership of him lol. He is like me and loves dogs. I want one name and he wants another. Whats funny is that my 6 year old and I went clothes shopping for our puppy today. He is really into it. We could have spent a fortune in Petco today. He had the little buggy for kids. The one that says future shopper on it. His buggy was piled high and we were carrying things lol. I cant wait to get the puppy. I think I will end up with 2 very soon. My son wants to name him Buddy. I will just pick another name for AKC and Buddy it will be lol. I was just telling my husband today our puppy needs a play pin lol. He just laughed at me. Our Buddy is going to be spoiled rotten. :aimeeyork Quote:

I can't imagine getting a dog stroller. I know that mine would not be happy. He would want to get out and walk around. Now if it is a hot day out then I would just leave him at home. They can get so hot so easy. I know I will prob hear it but I just don't think dogs belong in strollers. |
I can't wait until I get my other baby because I am going to make an investment in buying a doggie stroller "yorkie stroller" so that when I want to go to the mall I can take my babies and noone will know. I love the idea of taking your dog in a stroller because I can't stand to leave my baby all alone at home because I am not allowed to take them. So I'll SNEAK them in....lol lol I had read in an earlier post that someone had snuck their dog into a resteraunt when on vacation in a stroller... Just some helpful info |
Honestly I think my husband would drop me off at the mental health building if I put Paige in a stroller, but they sure do look cute! |
