Help in decision !! Tell me what you thinK!! Cassie is 2 on the 4 of May! I am thinking about getting her a little sister. I have been in touch with a breeder and they are due one litter this month and one litter on the 4 of March. Now I love having Cassie all to myself, we are able to go places together that with two would be harder to do. We do so much together that I wonder whether she would miss that, I feel I would. She just knows me so well and everything I am about to do its as if she is human. My problem is that unless I play with her she will not play. If we go to my son's and the cat is there she has a ball playing with him. I think she would really enjoy another to play with, but when we are so close , would it take that away. Don't know what is the best thing to do. |

That would be a hard decision. I think it would be best on one hand to get her a sister, but on the other you will miss what you have with her. Sorry I am no help as I think honestly if it were me I would get another one so she could play as much as she wants. |
I had the same issue not too long ago. I had Desi and I loved being able to take her everywhere with me. I also enjoyed being able to spoil her but when I wasn't playing with her she seemed bored. So, I toyed with the idea of getting her a sister. I went back and forth with this idea until I finally decided to do it. When Desi turned one year old, I bought home Millie, that was about 2 months ago. Millie is 5 month old and her and Desi are inseparable. I don't regret it for a minute. |
Of course I would tell you to get another one, as I love having my two girls. They have each other to play with and interact with, but I can't take them with me places if I am going alone...could think about getting a kitten for her to play with. That there is someone to play with but yet you still have your one on one time with her!!! |
I have two and really like it. They keep each other company. When I go somewhere I usually take Jewels with me because she is smaller and it is easier. |
I toyed with this idea as well. I'm always afraid that Zoe is lonely. I also know that another dog means more responsibility as well as more money. I joined a NYC yorkie meet up group and as soon as it gets warmer, I will start taking Zoe on meets. There is also a doggie park by my house that I am going to bring him. I think that Cassie is completely content with you alone but if you feel like she should have a pal then so be it but from the sounds of your thread there are some doubts so I would suggest arranging some playdates before making your final decision. |
Why not a brother? Despite the good experiences noted in the above posts I have heard from several others that members of the opposite sex get along much better, and that 2 females can be trouble. |
I vote for another Yorkie! I think she would enjoy a playmate! :aimeeyork |
We have the same dilemma - but there are two of us - my hubby is retired and home much of the time. We think Rowdy would love to have someonne other than 2 old foggies to play with - but we know it will be harder to take 2 with us. Anyway, Rowdy's mom and dad just had a litter and we think we will get one - it was a hard decision, but I've never read any post from anyone on YT who said they wished they DIDN'T get the second one. That doesn't help much - i know it is hard, we too, have struggled |
