Question when Yorkies wear clothing . . . Okay, a lot of YT members dress up their furbabies and although I swore not to do that to my Tiger (especially since dressing up boys isn't as fun!) I finally caved in  and bought him his first clothing - a sweater. It is so cold  here in Spokane right now that I just had to get one plus Petsmart is having all their winter clothes on clearance - 50% off so could not resist. Anyway, if you do dress up your yorkies, how long do they wear it. What happens when they need to go peepee. Won't it get wet/soiled because the fabric is either in the way or close enough that it will get wet when they relieve themselves . . . or does everyone have to wear a band/diaper whenever they are wearing some kind of clothing? Tiger never pees when he is not home but you just never know . . I'd hate for his sweater to get soiled right away. My daughter is coming home tonight for a 3-day weekend and she had requested Tiger to tag along with my husband when she gets picked up at the airport. I want Tiger to wear the sweater to show off his new clothing plus get some protection from the cold. They will be running a few errands before going home so am concerned. |
Trace wears clothes  Any way he only has one hoodie that's long enough to get pee'd on. It's just like a regular people hoodie w/ a band at the bottom, I just tuck in under. His shirts and sweaters are angled shorter on the bottom. Or they velcro around the tummy. Btw, Trace loves his clothes, he's like me....cold natured. He wears his all day, but he sleeps nekkid  |
Good question |
I have alot of clothes for my girls and they have never peed on them, but they are girls so their little pee-pee is farther down than a boys. My girls will wear their clothes as long as I leave them on. |
I've altered all the shirts for Winston. The bottom is shorter than the top. If you measure his neck to his thingy... Winston's is about 8 inches. I crop the bottom of the shirts to 7 inches. I hope that helps. Winston loves his clothes. If it is cold out... he won't move until I put on a shirt. |
Jolene wears clothes all the time, she hides if she is not dressed. Forget about going outside nekkid...ain't gonna happen. She has never soiled them with her bodily functions, but has gotten them dirty from rolling in the grass when no one is watching  I just throw them in the wash on delicate cycle with baby detergent and hang them to dry. Altering the shirts for boys is a good idea...I've seen that done alot too. |
I have not had my girl long enought to get her clothes yet. But I would swear that Gizmo has more clothes than I do! He has learned to love them! I have heard that Yorkies can be cold natured. I did have the problem with some of the clothes being too long underneath and getting a little pee on them. So when I let him out to go potty, I just roll it up a few times. As far as belly bands. I use these at night with Gizmo because I caught him getting up and going potty in the middle of the night. And when he wears the band, he will whine a little to wake me up, to tell me he needs to go. And then I will get up take it off and let him out. Also, I made the belly bands myself. And I bought some cheap panty liners and cut them in half. I use them to keep any pee from leaking through to the fabric. That way if he has a little accident I can just pull the liner out and replace it with a fresh one, and he is good to go. i hope that this helps a little.
