Still sore after shots Hi Everyone, I am looking for some words of wisdom. Yesterday I took Bridget in to the Vet for her 10 week shots. Man I felt so bad for her becasue she yelped so badly, and I have never had that happen with any animal before. Today she is still sore, or so it seems. When I go to pick her up and touch the shoulder area that she got the shot in she will yelp and wimper. She also doesnt seem to be her same playful self today. Should I be worried? I have never had such a tiny dog befoer and I just dont want me to think things will be fine when really they are not. any help or stories on experiance would help out a lot! thanks so much |
Aww, I hope little Bridget feels better soon! I know those shots can be a little tough on these babies, but they are necessary. Seems like Bo always had shots in the hip. She is probably just still a little sore and may be so for a few days. Just watch her and make sure she's eating and drinking normally. Bo sends kisses! |
Do not worry about her being sore. When I had Gracie's shots done she was always sensitive a couple days after the shots. All I would have to do is pet her there and she would cry or pull away. Give her a couple days and I'm pretty sure she won't be sore anymore. And as long a she's eating everything seems to be normal after a shot. Even the playfulness. Gracie was calm the following day after each of her shots. Good luck :) |
Thanks Thank You I was just worried, I guess after having big dogs all my life and not having them even notice a shot, then to have one yelp each time I touch her arm/shoulder area made my worried. Thanks for your advice Bridget sends big sloppy kisses back to you both |
Glad I could help :) I know how it feels to worry about things and sometimes be unsure of whats going on. Glad I could help with your worries. My Gracie is a little baby she cried if you touch her paw the wrong way lol so the soreness was made well aware by her...she is such a drama queen sometimes |
Gus was the same way after one of his shots. I call my vet whenever I have a concern or question. I figure that is what I am paying them for and they put up with me. ;) Anyway, they said soreness is fine but to watch for swelling, fever, diarrhea. They also told me I could give him baby aspirin. You need to know what dosage to give for your puppy's weight though so you'd have to ask your vet. I hope Bridget is feeling better. |
shot Did the vet give Lepto in the vaccine? Most vets and breeders no longer give it since that is the one that causes most fatal reactions and soreness. |
I know this seems like a stupid thing, but did the vet use a small needle? I always make my vet use a small needle and Max does not even react....Hope your baby is better soon.... |
Yesterday I took Cordelia to get her shot, and she is still sore from it. The last 2 times we have taken her to get her shots she seems to be sore for a couple of days. She is eating and running around so I know she is fine, but when I pick her up she yelps. |
