Oliver going bald?? Puppy fur question 1 Attachment(s) Oliver is 3 and a half months old and seems to have a very soft, silky, puppy coat. I have been brushing him everyday because he seems to be losing tufts of fur (not too much) thorughout the day. When I brish him is the real problem! It seems to be coming out in little clumps! Nothing noticable on his body (because he has so much fur) but on the brush I can tell that a bunch of pieces came out together. Last night I filled the brush with hair, and the same with tonight. I'm wondering if this is normal for a pup or if I should seek help. My first baby yorkie, so please let me know so I can stop worrying abotu his cute little face!! Thank you! |
it's most likely okay; i was once afraid for my lulu too; but when you brush dogs hair, they do have some hair that sticks to the brush. after a while my brush tends to be filled with hair. unless u start noticing complete bald spots on his body i wouldn't worry. just brush once a day should be enough too. also his hair on top of his noggin will start turn whiteish. your baby is adorable! |

That pic is a little old and his momma was a blondie so I htink he's heading that route!! |
He could be losing his puppy fur, but I never really noticed that with any of mine. Yorkies don't really shed, is he a mix? |

I do get a brush-full of hair when I brush all six. I just wouldn't say it comes out in 'clumps'. But with a pretty thick hair, maybe it just seems that way. I wouldn't worry about it, but watch for bald spots, rashes, itching - and maybe mention it to the vet or groomer next time you are in. He is a cutie! |
I dont get any hair when I brush Mickey but I do when I brush Minnie. She has a lot of hair. It could be just his puppy hair. |
what is the difference I know this may be a little off topic, but I wasn't quite sure where to post this question. How can one tell if their yorkie has a silky, wooly, or cottony coat? Thanx in advance for your input. |

I get puppy fur on the comb when I brush Millie's hair. The same thing happened to me when Desi was a puppy, but it stops when they're fully grown. |
That is strange because yorkies usually dont lose hair. My female lost alot hair on her back when she was a pup and they checked her for mites but she didnt have them and they never found what caused the hair loss. |
