Getting along I was wondering if anyone here has ever had this problem. I have a yorkie that is now 18 weeks. Before she came into the family I had a mini pin. Well ever since I got her he has been so jelous. She always wants to play with him but he pulls away. I try to give him the same attention I give her but he just wont budge. What can I do so he will play with her? I feel so bad for her because she wants to play with him so much. :animal36 |
Just finished reading another post where one dog isn't being nice to another dog. At least your dog is only ignoring the other --and not being mean. The few times I have brought a new puppy home, my other dogs have been jealous and not too friendly at first, but within a week or two they have always become fast friends and have stayed wonderful friends for years. I can't imagine how you can get a dog to "play with another dog" if he doesn't want to. Maybe the puppy will eventually win the other dog over. Time will tell. Good luck! |
Thank you. I will need all the luck I can get. It's been more than a couple of days. It's been a month and a half. So I don't think he will ever play with her. I hope he does. Better late than never. I'll keep praying. |
And - remember - your 18 week old little Yorkie is going to get older and settle down a little. My Yorkie puppy literally drove my other dog crazy - and still does. I would say that my older Bichon spends one-third of the day trying to get away from the puppy, one-third of the day sleeping in another room (with the door closed) and the last third of the day playing with and tolerating the puppy very well. They are definitely friends, but boy can a pup drive another dog bonkers!!!! Carol Jean |
Maybe while you play with the puppy, your min-pin can sit by you and watch the fun! Do you let them both roam freely most of the time? Do they sleep together? |
They'll bond eventually. I'm no expert, but it occurs to me that animals are "basic" when it comes to emotions. I think it's a matter of time is all. They'll be buddies before ya know it. :D |
