How do I stop her from JUMPING???? 1 Attachment(s) I know that it is not good for our little ones to jump from high places, but my little 3 lb. Bella is NUTS! She can jump up onto my bed (which is a california king and very high) and she jumps down just as easily. There is carpet in the room, but I still feel that it is not good for her. I have even made a ramp but she will not use it...she would rather jump. It is impossible to stop her because she will hear a little noise and jump without a moments notice (she is just so quick). Yesterday while my husband was playing with her and Louie she decided that it would be a short cut to chase after the toy if she jumped up onto the couch and then up onto the back of the couch and she literally flew off onto the hardwood floor.....and then just kept running like it did not bother her in the least. Im so afraid that she is going to get hurt or that she will have problems with her legs in the future. :( Does anyone elses babies do this? and if so how do you stop them from possibly hurting themselves? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Here is a pic that gives you an idea of how high the back of my couch is to the floor. she likes to lay up there and I am constantly taking her down. |
Just wanted to reply to my own post so that another one of mine doesnt get lost in the shuffle and maybe someone will see it. :p |
My Jasmine (who is barely 3 pounds), 16 months old, does the exact same thing... I think she has springs for legs... she has been doing the high jumps since she was less than two pounds... I figure if I interfere she'd be worse off because I'd probably do some spastic grabbing for her... which would probably cause her to hurt herself. I just assume she knows what she is doing!!! :) |
Both of mine jump too. I have little ramps but they dont use them. |
Well, Im glad to see that I am not the only one....maybe this is semi-normal LOL |
Chloe will jump off of the beds and couchs but Daisy wont. |
If you ever find an answer to this question, I sure would appreciate one too!! One of mine would NEVER jump up or down. Heck, she wouldn't jump out of her own way!! Now, she's learned that it's WAAAY too much fun to jump from the bed ot the chair, the couch to the table, the table to the chair, etc!!! She'll just stand in the middle of the room sometimes and just jump straight up. For no apparent reason!! I've even told her that I was going to tie her legs together. Didn't bother her in the least!! So if you figure out how to make them stop, let me know,K? Suz |
My little Chloe thinks she is Superman! I haven't figured out a way to stop her though. |
ILoveLouie -- My pup is just like yours. He has jumped off every and anything since I got him at 8 weeks. Even at 3 pounds he could get on anything. He doesn't jump up - he climbs like a cat. And, I can't stop him either. I have learned not to yell at him when I see him getting ready to jump. This would only distract him and could well keep him from making the "perfect landings" that amaze me. And my pup doesn't just jump down - he jumps "up and away." I don't know about your little dog, but mine is about 6 1/2 pounds now - this, in itself, makes me feel a little better. I certainly would be much more worried with a tiny little Yorkie jumping off of everything. Personally - I don't think we can stop these little guys from jumping. But we can pray!!!!! Carol Jean |
mine too.... she is 12wks tomorrow and backs up from the couch - gets a running start and kind of pounces up - and ALWAYS jumps down or sometimes into my arms.... i dont know if she thinks she is a stunt dog or what but i'm afraid she is gonna get hurt all the time! |
