Dogs Found Unable To Walk Because Of Hair Dogs Found Unable To Walk Because Of Hair http://www.local6.com/news/7053259/d...0428&qs=1;bp=t A man in Melbourne, Fla., faces animal abuse charges after three dogs were found in a locked storage shed with hair so long that they were barely able to move, according to a Local 6 News report. Animal control officers said the dogs were found covered in skin lesions and had so much hair that it was difficult to determine heads from tails. "One of the animals weighed in at something like 24 pounds prior to its hair being cut," Brevard County Animal Service spokesman Bob Brown said. "Once the animal was groomed, he weighed about 10 pounds, 5 ounces. So, he had more than 100 percent of his body weight in excess hair." The dogs were discovered after another dog laid down in front of the storage shed and refused to leave, according to the report. Officers who found the shih Tzu dogs in the shed said they had never seen another case like it. "Animal control officers said it had been years since the dogs had been groomed," Local 6 News reporter Donald Forbes said. Why have dogs if you don\'t want to take care of them? Okay, I can understand, not all people spoil their dogs rotten like we Yorkie owners do, but come on!! Do the right thing and put them up for adoption if you don\'t want them anymore. What do people think? "Oh, I\'ll feel bad and like a mean owner if I give my dogs away, so instead I\'ll keep them, but put them through misery." Hello!!!! People are crazy!! |

I saw this on the news yesterday. They were s**t-zu\'s that were so matted that it prevented them from being able to walk properly. They had about 20 pounds of matted hair. I believe the owner was arrested. I was very painful to watch. :thumbup: |
We get dogs in like that from the rescue groups that we do charity grooming for and it flat out sucks. I can\'t tell you how glad I am that I don\'t know who previously had the dogs we do b/c I have such a short temper when it comes to furbabies that I would go balistic on them. |
Geez, how can people let their dogs grow 20 lbs of hair all matted up!!! I bet they were in sooo much pain :( |
