Cause for Concern? The past few days Bridget has seemed out of sorts and I’m starting to worry. Hope you folks out there can give me some advice. When I got home early from work this afternoon, she was moving quite slowly, almost lethargic and when I picked her up she was noticeably shaking. Poor thing looked so sad it just broke my heart No energy. I held her for awhile and eventually she calmed down and the shaking stopped. A few hours later I noticed she was shaking again. She hadn’t touched any of her food so I gave her some nutrical and the shaking stopped again. We did this twice tonight. She was mellow most of the evening and now at 8:45pm she seems to have perked up quite a bit - playing and finally eating her food. She’s always been a night eater, she’s my little night owl. Loves to play at night. She seems just fine now, but we’ve had two days of this episode and I’m wondering if there is a cause for concern. I don’t like the shaking… makes me so nervous. |
I would take her to the vet right away. It sounds like something is not right. How much does she weigh? |
Could be suffering from hypoglycemia. Have you tried given her Nutrical? |
She's 18 months old and weighs 3.8 lbs. This has never happened before, that's why I'm concerned. Today was the first time I've ever given her nutrical. |
How old is she and what does she weigh? I would also consider a vet visit to be safe. :( |
I would also take her in. If she seems fine now Id take her in if she does it again. Poor baby I hope she starts feeling better and nothing is wrong. |
She is pretty small. I would take her in. You do not want her shaky and lethargic. |
Please keep us informed as to Bridget's condition! I hope she will be just fine :) |
Thanks everyone for your support! She is doing fine this morning - but I'm not taking any chances - going to the vet today. |
She is not coming into heat is she? Is she fixed? My dog shakes and acts weird when she is coming into heat. It is horrible. |
Nope, she's spayed. |
I am glad you are taking her in! I hope it is nothing, but that seems unusual to me. I lost a little guy last September, he was only 4 mo. about 4 #, but I will always wonder if he could have been saved if I had taken him earlier. |
The only thing I could think of is give her some Nutri Cal and get her to the vet. It sounds strange all that you are saying. But possibly low sugar. |
Update on Bridget Well Bridget is doing great today - back to her usual perky self. Eating good, doing her "business" just fine, running around playing and seemingly back to normal. The vet gave her a full check up, vitals, etc. and said she was in good health. He said that she could have had an unexpected drop in blood sugar or ate something that didn't agree with her. Said to keep the nutrical on hand and keep a close eye on her and bring her back if it happens again. I'm relieved it's nothing serious. Thanks everyone for your advice and support - I don't know what I'd do without my YT friends! |
I am so glad she is alright! I was really worried, but I am happy you were taking such good care of her! |
