Yorkies and rain? :aimeeyork Do all your yorkies HATE the rain? My two sit on the doorstep and refuse to go outside if its raining, they hate getting their paws wet. Is it just my two spoilt stubborn babies, or is it in a yorkies way? :aimeeyork Liverbuffsxx :aimeeyork |
Both of mine refuse to go out in the rain too. |
Both Mac & Mellie refuse to go out in the rain. Mellie is more tolerant of the weather she will go out if the temperature is below 50. Mac on the other hand needs to live in the tropics. He only like to go out when it is warm and sunny, However, if it's too hot he would rather stay in the AC. Talk about a spoiled little man. |
My yorkies love the rain, unfortunately. When they were out today I had one that jumped in the cattle trough! Soaking wet!! My male loves to swim and will also float on a float in the pool. I guess he thinks he's sun bathing. |
Nope if it's cold outside Tigger will stand on the porch and will do his thing if he has to, but then he runs straight for the house. Strange kids they are. |
I have decided that it's because they are trying SAVE MOMMY. I mean, if they go out, get muddy, I have to bathe feet, legs, maybe all of them, and I would like to think they are trying to help. (I'm saying this as I clean up a puddle on the floor...... gritting my teeth and yelling "on the paper!") |
I've had a lot of pets - cats and dogs - and some of them hated the rain and didn't want to go out and others could have cared less. Carol Jean |
Harley thinks the rain is funny. Apparently he believes it's Gods way of playing games with him bc he won't come in until he has done his best to attempt to destroy every falling drop of water.. But then again he also attempts to murder the hose water while I fill the horses trough until he's totally soaked and choking to death and until his belly is filled to the brim with water.. He's a weirdo though.. So I don't think his behavior really counts as a yorkies.. Now my little mixed breed dog Zeus.. he's a flake and a half.. Go outside in the rain? Yea, right. He'd rather have his bladder explode before getting sprinkled on by the rain. |
Nope, Rowdy won't go out in the rain either - I've never had a dog that wouldn't go out in the rain, so this is a totally new experience for me. He'll pee on the porch or on the mat in front of the door (or occasionally IN THE HOUSE) but he won't go out in the rain. We are going to get a piece of indoor/outdoor green carpet to put on the covered porch - since he will go on the mat outside. |
Gracie HATES water. She even hates her water dish, she stands as far away from it as she can to drink.. it is funny. She hates the rain, she shakes when it rains and wants me to hold her or she will lie down on the floor in the middle of the house untill it stops raining. Of course, she beggs me to take her out for a walk when it is 30 outside and as soon as we get out, she wants to go back in. Last time, I got the baby all bundled up and in the stroller, got myself bundled up and got Gracie all ready to go and we get outside and she wants to go back in. I ended up putting her in the basket under the stroller with her blankets, she had a good time, (lazy little girl!!!) |
Mine like to play in water as long as it does'nt come from above! :rain: |
I think its a general small dog thing to hate the rain. My baby only likes the rain after she had a nice bath, hehe... otherwise I physically have to pick her up and set her in the grass. I can see her facial expression go "EWWW, What are you doing!" and she tip toes through it. |
Mitzi WAS like that. I leave the door open now, and she has started to go out in the rain by herself, just for a peepee, then she's comes back in. But, its a begining, lol. Everything with her is SLOWLY SLOWLY. :D |

And I thought my Jazzie was just prissy & uniquie!... She WILL NOT step in any puddles or even damp asphalt! Jewel on the other hand seems to love dirt & water puddles, can't keep her out of either! She even jumped chest deep into the cement when we were pouring our new patio! |
