I went to the pet store and wanted an estimate weight of the Yorkie that was there. The clerk said he was about 6 or 7 lbs at 7months. Do you think she was accurate judging from the photo? the other photo was deleted accidently.

ps no intentions of getting him, just was curious

It looks like it could be about 6 or 7 pounds to me. I've never seen pet stores selling pups that old. Except for places like petco or petsmart shelter dogs.

it was posted Yorkshire Terrier and the date of birth was sometime in August they were selling him for around $700 and the puppies for $1200&up

O we're in luck..i found the other photo....I think the store is called "The Pet Co" its in our local mall Roosevelt Field

That's a big dog... Looks like a Silky to me.

Bless his heart..I hope he finds a good home. Looks like a long-haired Doberman to me..but I realize Dobie do not come in a long-haired variety. On the scale I bet he is more like 10 pounds.

thats not a silky cause silkys have short stubby legs its prob mixed with poodle deff not a silky hes also prob older than 7 months prob over a year they always lie about there ages

there a puppy store by our mall and everytime we go to the mall we stop in there the past 3 times we went there was a girl silky puppy shes the same age as kayko last time we went i told my mother next time we come and shes still here shes commng home with us we havent gone back but if we do soon im gonna bring her home cause if she doesnt get bought she going back to the puppy mill to get breed and that would be terrible

I would really try to discourage buying ANY dog from a pet store. Not only are they 99% of the time, unhealthy, sickly and who knows what genetics they come from, but you are only supporting the pet store and puppymill the pup came from. Maybe if the pet store see's that nobody wants to buy their puppies, then they'll stop selling them.

yea i realize that but so far the poor puppy has spent 9 months in a cage a now its gonna go to breed for the rest of its life

That's the reason, 50% of the time, I'd say, as to why these pet stores STILL sell dogs. People with hearts go in and see a poorly bred dog, in a tiny cage & say "Oh my gosh, that poor dog" and buy it. That just gives the pet store another cage to fill up with another dog.

Really, it's your decision, but if you REALLY want to stop pet stores from selling dogs, don't buy a dog from them... Stay away from the pet store. Don't go back, then you won't be tempted. As horrible as it is for that puppy, the pet store needs to realize that selling dogs is not ok :mad:

o0o thats so0 weird i went to roosevelt feild mall today and i saw the same dog and i was confused because i didnt think they got so0 big at such a young age ..

Brownie's Mom - steal the dog. Ask to hold it and take it. I wish I could put a smiley face winking after this to show that I'm kidding, but now that I think about it, I don't think it would be a bad idea... :)

LMAO i should HMMMM NA !!!!!!! i dont even know if shes still there we have never had a female dog who knows shes prob sent back by now or bought "hopefully" poor thing i feel bad putting kayko in the cage when i go out could you imagine spending your whole life in one :(

Roosevelt Field Mall on Long Island? I didn't know there was a pet store there. Anyway, I don't think that this dog will be 7 lbs. Archie was 6 lbs at 5 months, and he was still growing. He's now 10 months at 10 lbs. Anyway, the dog looks like a Yorkie/Schnauzer (yorkienauzer?!) mix or a Yorkie/Wire fox terrier mix.
