I think you can expect males to behave like this any time you have females in heat nearby. It seems like her choice is painfully obvious. :( Keep them separated or let one go. |
Any breeder or person experienced with having several dogs - should know the pros can cons about keeping several males together (especially breeding males). I am sure she is upset about their not getting along. And, her wanting to find a new home for one of the males may be the best possible answer. It is a problem and I'm sure she'll solve it whichever way she feels is best. You said the one male is only 3 years old. That is still very young. I would think that it could be neutered and become a wonderful pet for some loving family. Carol Jean |
Since I have had my males neutered, I have not had ANY bad fighting since then. I thought if the pups are registered, the male can be bred only so many times? Not really sure about that. Anyway, if she wants to keep him - it may be the only way. I found it awfully hard to keep them apart. I would always goof and they attacked so quickly. Actually my male fought with the female in heat. I know it was her fault - she would stare at him and he would attack. I do wish her luck, it was so scary and they would bite us trying to get them apart. We threw them into the pool one day (in summer), but I forbid anyone to do that again. I was afraid they might asperate water. |
My studs are good so far even when a female (or 2 as was the case last time) is in heat. I know I just jinxed myself but it is true. When I am using a specific stud I keep the others together in an Xpen and the lovers out in the room. Then, switch them around. Whiz that Pat mentioned was Shorty's son and still a young boy. But, he needed to be with his bestest buddy. I see nothing wrong with pen training the males, or females if they fight, and working with them so that no one stays the entire time in the pen.. It is a shame to lose a good stud. Before I would do that, I would work with them BUT bet that would not work. In that case, I would board one out when I have a female in heat.. The solution to this problem is not simple. I do wish them the best. Afriend was visiting with her male and he and one of my males got into it. The ONLY way I could break them up was to lift them completely off the floor by the scruffs of their necks and shake and yell "STOP" and pull them apart..Scared the bejeebees out of me but they got the idea, I was boss.. |
