Has anyone heard of Appelachian Yorkies. Terri somebody in Virginia?

If you do a search on them, you will see a couple of sites claming they have stolen their pictures. So what you see may not be what you get. I would think twice before getting a pup from them.
I did not actually go to their site because it was shut down but I do remember telling my friend NOT to get one from there a yr ago. So something must have been wrong. We are in Va.

I actually bought my baby from her. I got her because she was born with a bad leg and I couldn't resist her little face. I didn't pay much for my Diva since she was not "perfect". I was trying to see if i could see the breeders site again and see if she had any other dogs with problems. She was realyl nice when I met her, although I drove 2 days to pick up my girl and had to wait 2 1/2 hours for Terri to show.
I am extremely happy with my baby I was just wondering if others had any experiences with her.

And Diva had surgery at 10 1/2 weeks and is now 8 mo and you wouldn't even know she ever had an unusuable leg. SHe is completely perfect and wonderful!

So you actually went to her house??? And saw the parents and puppies? What was your impression while you were there? I am glad your little Diva is fine now:) And she obviously got a wonderful home.
I am not being nosy but I have to wonder how much the surgery to fix her little leg cost, what was wrong with it? I would imagine for the price of surgery you can get a yorkie in your area that doesn't need surgery?

Well this is a long dtory but I'll make it short.

I live in Seattle. I was looking online at Yorkie sites because I have always wanted one and thought that it was a good time in my life to get one. I read some good reviews about Terri and I actually just started out asking her questions about breeders and dogs. She stated that she had just had a litter and when I went to her website I saw the pics with one that said she wasn't going to sell because it hqad a health issue. Well after I asked about that cute girl she said she would sell her to me for a fraction of her regualr cost with the understanding that she was the runt and her vet (not so good) said that the L hind leg was shorter. Granted Diva was only 8 oz when i got her in August and it was hard to tell what was wrong with her leg. When she tried to walk her leg looked like a flipper. It was sort of turned out and looked like it just hadn't developed.

I didnt see the house. My boyfriend lives in Connecticut and I was back there visiting when Diva became 8 weeks. So I drove to Virginia and met up with Terri at a mutual spot. She lives in the middle of nowhere.

My dog was actaully sick and had worms and other issues that I dealt with first. Then I took her to a great orthopedic vet here in Seattle. He said the leg was twisted. The knee cap was all the way on the outside of her leg and the tendons/ligaments and muscles had all grown to twist the leg and make it unusable. SO they went in and cut away all the tissue, regrooved her femur and put her knee cap in place. THen they closed the tisue arround it an hoped for the best.

We she is perfect and you would never know she had anything wrong before!

The surgery did cost my $1600. But she is so worth it, I couldn't ask for a better dog and friend. I would do it all over again if there was some way to make the surgery easier for dogs.

The next baby I get will be from a place around here. I have heard there are some good breeders out here, but I guess I would need a little better research next time.

I'm glad this worked out but I would not buy without going to see the breeder's place so I could determine the living conditions. It can affect the personality of the dog, not to mention health issues and it is important to see the dam and sire, if possible, and how the dog interacts with others.

I completely agree! I let me emotions take over and once I got it in my head that I was going to help this poor dog I didn't look back. I won't be doing it again.

I am on Terri's email list so i get updates when she has puppies available, etc.

The way I got on the list is that I called about a teeny tiny little girl they had when I was looking for my Ava. She sounded like what i was interested in but they said that they had changed their minds about selling her because she was so tiny and so perfect that hey were going to keep her as their "mascot".

I do visit the website occasionally when she sends me an email...they have cricket noises in the background...kinda cute....HeeHee...but I have not spoken to them since and I have never visited the kennel.

I am so glad your little one turned out so well and I agree.....she is worth every penny you paid on her. Heck, I spent $1200 recently just to have the best vet pull Buddha's retained baby teeth!! His neuter was $500!

OMGOSH! I am so glad you took that little baby and gave her a wonderful home:) I misunderstood, I thought that you were looking to buy a puppy from there.
I think it is great you posted your experience here and I think it is important for everyone that if at all possible, you need to go and look at where you are buying your puppy from.
This is twice I have heard a story about the breeder meeting in another location in Va.

terri is a wonderful person and her yorkies are beautiful and fairly priced. i was going to drive down and get one from her but then found Ceeby right here at home.
