Is Your Yorkie a Therapy Dog?
 

I was curious if anyone has involved their pup in this very worthwhile activity.

Dayzee has begun the process last weekend. In Calif. they have to be a year old. Bailey, my 17 mo Havanese is a service dog and therapy dog.

:luvu: If I had more time I would love to get Bugaboo ceritfied. He LOVES people!

Dan and I have been talking about having Jazzie certified. We're in S. Cal. anyone know where I can start the process?

Ask Socal...she has certified her dogs a service dogs? Therapy dogs? Can't remember which one, but maybe she can help you. :)

Yes, I have 5 service dogs but no certified therapy dogs. The process for therapy dogs is actually more involved thn for service dogs...in fact service nedd no "certification" per se under the law.

Therapy dogs are wonderful and yorkies are great at it! :)

this is an excellent idea. i think yorkies make people smile and feel better. he is definetly my therapy.

Mine is in Therapy. LOL
I wanted to but plans kinda changed.

Ya i agree my dog is kinda crazy she should be in therapy but in the case of being a therapy dog right now daisy is to hyper and hunter is to big

Being a nurse, that is one of the goals I have for me and Daphne is to complete the therapy dog training and then go to work, providing some emotional support to many of our chronic patients and families. :aimeeyork

i was wondering if i could get additional info from you about this. if there's not "certification" necessary under the law, is there some other documentation that's necessary to get paperwork that proves your dog is a service dog? furthermore, is proof of service dog paperwork (for lack of a better word, 'cause i don't know the official name for it)? provided by the local municipality? or county? or state? or some other agency?

i would love for bunjee to become a service dog or therapy dog if he qualifies.
