Quick question. Can you give cow's milk to a puppy sometimes as like a treat from water? Not regularly, just occasionally. |
I have given it to my dogs as a treat from time to time. However, you have to be careful when you give a puppy cow's milk. Like people some dogs cannot tolerate milk because they do not produce an enzyme called lactase. They cannot digest cow's milk properly and they get diarrhea or gastric upset when they drink it. |
Check with your vet. Mine said no. He said when she's grown up, I could try it but not as a puppy. It sours in their system too fast or something. |
I feed mine milk occasionally - or something with milk. It has never seemed to bother them. If you're worried - you can buy a quart of "Lactose-free milk." With a little dog, a quart will last forever. Carol Jean |
Dogs should drink water. Give treats for treats. |
I give my moms and babies Goat's Milk. It is easier to digest. But not given normally as  a treat. |
