He won’t top biting My 5 month old Yorkie does not stop biting me. I know he thinks it playing time. I tried telling him "no" very firmly. He stops, but goes back withing a few minutes. I tried putting him in the crate (does not work)...what should I do? :( :( |
My little girl Chloe was a biter when she was younger and I hated it bc it really hurt, I kept telling her no over and over and she would never get it so she did it another time and i told her no and then put her in time out for one minute she never did it again |
scream really loud OUCH!! |
I tried the screaming loud... he just looks at me as if I'm crazy :-) I even tried this spray that i bought at the pet store which is supposed to taste really bad... he likes it |
What your supposed to do is to get everyone who handles your pup to blow a gentle, soft, low raspberry in it's face and to keep doing it if biting persists. Sounds mad but its very effective. Just takes patience. Giving it attention is kinda like a signal for play time and they can't reallt seperate good and bad with "no".. you have to substitute things. For example, if it chews things it shouldnt (cabinets etc) dont shout or say "no!" all you do is simply thrust something it can chew infront of it. Hope it helps. |
Thanks! I will try it. |

I have the same problem. My 4 month old puppy willnot stop biting. I've tried everything. I'm just hoping that this is only a phase and that he will stop. In the meantime, I'm just gonna keep saying no. |
Mine (as all puppies are) was terrible for a while. But - at 5 1/2 months, he is so much better. I guess he has learned that there are more fun things to do than chew on me. Wait a while - he'll be better! Carol Jean |
I've heard that your suppose to say NO really loud while making eye contact with the pup and then turn your back on him for about 10-20 seconds. By doing this it shows that your in control and "Alpha" and they don't like being ignored. Also spray Bitter Apple spray on your arms/hands (dogs hate the taste). You can also try crating him when he bites. |
puppies love to bite because they are teething. luckily, it's a phase, they'll grow out of it soon enough. in the meanwhile, try putting bitter apple on your fingers. also try telling her "NO BITE" in a firm tone and then walk away. stop playing with her. then she'll soon understand biting means that the fun will stop. also try replaceing your fingers with her favorite chew toy. |
