Diarrhea started 2 days after being spayed?? As some of you know my baby got spayed the day before yesterday. She was totally being her old self again yesterday. I was having a hard time keeping her from jumping but she did fine. :D However, she's had diarrhea twice this morning and I am worried. I called the vet and was told it could be from the anesthesia wearing out. They told me to bring her in if she is still having diarrhea tomorrow. She is still jumping up and down and being pretty happy though. Maybe I worry too much. :( Anyway, do you think this is normal? Have any of you had similar experience? I wonder why she didn't have any problem yesterday. By the way, I didn't feed her this morning, just water. I don't know if I should. |
I don't remember if Gracie had diarrhea after being spayed. I would guess that it is from the anesthesia. Give her some bland food, maybe that will help settle her stomach. No, you are not worrying too much, your just being a good mommy! |
Thanks, Claire. I really need the reassurance. I am a first time mom as you can see and I often worry myself to death when it comes to her. :p I will try to settle her stomach and hopefully it would pass soon. :) |
I wouldn't worry about it -- as she is being her usual self. Anyway - all my dogs and cats have diarrhea occasionally - and usually I attribute it to whatever they have been eating. Your pup has had anesthesia and has probably not been on her regular diet for a couple of days. And perhaps she has been having more fluids and less food. Wait a day or two (feed her her regular food), and she'll probably be just fine. PS: I never have considered my animals sick when they have had diarrhea for only a day or two. Carol Jean |
Is she on pain meds? That could be causing it. Samson got a little sick after a couple days of the meds so we stopped them and he was fine. :) |
