Question about fur..
 

As I look at everyones pictures of their babies it doesn't seem like Daisy has as much fur as all the others... Does it just take some longer?? She's doesn't have that cute furry look.. I love that. I'm wondering if this means that she won't get as much. Anyone know?

I really don't know the answer to that. But my second Yorkie which I rescued from a puppy mill didn't have much hair. Was very thin and never grew. I wasn't sure why. I just assumed that it might have been her living environment and such. But when I was looking for my recent Yorkie I did ask the breeders when inquiring if the pups had much hair. I explained why I was asking and they told me that every once in a while the mother would "throw" a pup with that type of hair. Maybe the veteran Yorkie owners will better be able to answer your question.

Some of them just never do. My Tiah has long enough hair, but I don't feel it would ever drag on the floor. Your avatar pictures are adorable, but it doesn't look like Daisy will ever have a very long coat. I could be wrong though. I had a male some time back who looked a lot like that and it took over 2 years to seem to finally start getting a little actual lenght to it. What are you feeding her? A good diet and shampoo do help. Also, you may want to ask your vet about a good vitamin. You can get "Brewers Yeast with Garlic" at WalMart and it is good for the skin and coat and tends to keep the fleas off. That is what I use. Daisy looks like she brings you much love and joy :) .

My pup (at 8 weeks when I got him) had thin, oily, terrible hair...couldn't get a comb through it. That baby hair has been trimmed off (he's 6 months old now), and his new hair is thicker and much nicer. It has turned silver, never matts, and is easy to comb. I think it will continue to get even thicker as he gets older.

If you have a young pup - I think that keeping him in a short puppy cut for a while will help you get rid of the fine thinner baby hair. I have certainly noticed a great improvement in my pup's newer coat.

Is Daisy registered? The only reason I ask is because I had a maltese who I would have sworn was a malti-poo. His coat was curly and didn't grow in very pretty. Anyways, if he wasn't AKC registered, I would have sworn he wasn't purebred. Is Daisy papered so you know if she is purebred?

Yes, she is papered, unfortunately, (hanging head) I was one of those that bought from a paper store before I knew of YT or puppy mills and all of that... I know, I'm guilty, I feel horrible, but atleast I know now and Daisy has a great home and is not back in that pet store..With that said, yes, she's papered, but I've not seen her parents..

Don't feel bad. I got my puppy from a pet/grooming shop...a small family-owned shop that has been in my town for more than 20 years.

I got a wonderful little male for $850. I did learn his breeders name and have corresponded with her. She said that his mother was a solid 12 pounds and his father was 4 1/2 pounds on a good day. She said that most of their pups end up around 6 pounds. I think mine will end up at 7-8 pounds. He is 6 1/2 pounds at 6 months. But who knows. He still seems very tiny to me.

Anyway - I got an hour talk and a million instructions from the person I got my pup from, and the pup has been super healthy, happy, and growing since I got him. He has papers also - but I am not going to register him. He will be neutered soon and is a wonderful little pet.

I think a lot of puppies have thin hair. Often this becomes much thicker as they grow. My dog's certainly has.

My pup turned silver and a light tan by the time he was 4 months old. In fact, I saw the silver at the roots waiting to grow in when he was only 8 weeks old. I think he may have silk hair as it is totally easy to comb and never matts. His puppy hair was so terrible that I couldn't get a comb through it - but now it's great!

It's hard to know what a pup's hair will end up being. But I do know that often the very best coats are very thin when they are just puppies.
