I have one up and one down! :D Rexy's ears are down and Rowdy's are up. You can see both of them in my avatar. They are both beautiful and special in their own unique way!!! :) |
My Darla is a yorkie/bichon mix and I let her hair on her ears grow...its too cute that way but one ear stands and one ear flops and I love it that way!! My Reece is 9 weeks and I could tape and shave but I think Ill let them go whichever way they end up...if they stand fine and if they flop fine..his dads stand and his moms flop so its a toss up lol...either way I love em to pieces!! Can you post a pic of your baby? I love to see pics and avatars can be so small to really get a good look!! Dawn |
My Sammy's ears were up by six weeks, and my Sophie's ears are up and down, their baby has mostly down ears, (sometimes they go part way up). I have kept them shaved since she was about 5 weeks old, fed cottage cheese, and decided she was just very beautiful just the way she was.... see the avatar. |
Welcome to YT :) ! My pup's ears went up when he was about 10 weeks old... I stopped trimming and now I have a puppy with floppy ears again... sigh. I clipped most of his hairs really short last night and we'll see if that has any efect LOL. |
hi welcome to YT!!!! she is probably teething, no worries :) |
3 Attachment(s) Here's a couple of pix of Rexy with down ears and his brother (from a different litter) with up ears. |
I can tell you what I did and Gleason's ears are now beautiful and standing perfectly. My vet super glued each ear together in the middle and it took about 2 weeks for them to come unglued and when they did they were standing up. It didn't hurt him at all and he didn't even fool with them. Now at first they looked like airplane wings and then that stood up more and more. It was great. |
When I first got Izzie her ears were down and like everyone said I found out when they are teething they can go down. So I decided to shave her ears because I started to notice they would go up, after I shaved/trimmed her ears one ear stood up about wk later both were up. Ever since then they been up, I did shave them again when they both went up. I didn't tape, but I know alot of ppl do. Izzie is going to be 4 months. Maybe try trimming them or taping... |
This thread could be Lazarus...back from the dead...it's two years old. LOL |
Yes But time is of the essance. She is probably teething and getting her adult teeth now. Soon the cartiledge will be set forever. Buy Breathe Rite strips. Cut to fit the ear from just in canal to tip. Shave ears is best for sticking straight up the ear but closer to inside. You can use No Sew type glue at Jo Annes fabric store. You can also tape ears after putting the strips on . If the breeder you bought him/her from is near call her. Also some vets can assist. I know they wiggle and you may need more than two hands to do the job. I fixed my now 5mos. Mini Schnauzers' ears this way. Leave taped Strips on several days. Check and retape. Yes, ity is hard to remove . Believe it or not WD40 a little loosens the glue. Then again, sometimes they don't stick too well and it takes daily retaping. The end result is worth it. Oh, and sometimes just having a groomer shave the tips takes weight off and they stand. |
1 Attachment(s) There is hope! Hot Rod's ears are finally up after 8 mos! He was neutered when he was 6 1/2 mos and 14 teeth out. He'd been chewing for a few weeks after that. I also the groomer trim all the hair off his hears the last time. But they are definitely up! |

I know exactly how you feel. My Gleason's ears wouldn't come up, well thats not entirely right, they stood up beautifully for about 2 weeks and then dropped and stayed that way so I took him to my vet and he glued the ear together and by the time the glue had worked loose his ears stood up beautifully and have ever since. I did cut the hair on them short but didn't completely shave them but they stand up great and have for months now. |
