Dogs and Public Transportation Anyone take public transportation with their yorkies? After 2 months of taking the local public transit with my puppy with no problems, i get a driver today that decides to be anal about the rules. Evidently, I had to have a muzzle on bunjee in order to take him onto the bus. there can only be one dog per bus. dogs can only allowed during non-rush hour traffic hours. AND a fare is required equal to my fare (1 adult: $1.50, so $3 for the both of us). mind you, we had been walking a while and bunjee was passed out asleep in my arm when i carried him onto the bus and the bus driver told me he needed a muzzle because he might bite. i understand that the rules exist for the protection of all passengers, but that particular driver was just mean and nasty with a lotta attitude. she reacted as if the 5lb sleeping puppy in my arm is some sort of vicious dieased beast and i was stupid or something. i hate holier than thou attitudes. i made a comment commending the driver for protecting the shoe laces of all passengers and walked off the bus and took a taxi instead. it costed me an extra $2. silly me for wanting to be more environmentally conscience by taking public transport. okay... i just needed to vent. thanks for reading. |
How dare she! Some people aren't happy unless they are making other people's lives miserable! She was just jealous of that cute baby! |
I think this is when I would want to have a puppy purse for Bungee. Sorry you went through that kind of hassle today. Maybe you won't see that bus driver again for a while. |
i do have a carrier for bunjee, but it was in the car and i was on my way to pick up the car. i was going to talk but changed my mind at the last minute because i was running late. but i've hand carried bunjee onto the bus before too and have had no problems. like i said, my objection was not to the rules, but the attitude of the driver, the b03tch! but yeah, i'll be using a carrier all the time from now on. |
Hi Hunnybunnie, I live in San Francisco as well :D and I also notice how mean the muni bus drivers in this city are. Several times I see someone running, being almost at the bus, and the bus driver just shutting the door right in front of their nose!!!! Gets me sooo mad!!! I take the Muni every day to work so in my free time I haven't even attempted taking Simba on the bus. Hey, if you don't have any plans this Sunday you should come to the Yorkie meet-up at Allyne Park in the Marina district. It starts at 1 p.m. Anita |
I take Guinness on the bus and train in Boston. YOu should check the website for San Francisco transit.. Boston MBTA says that you have to have a dog in the carrier. I usually don't but started carrying him in gym bag these days!! It is kinda interesting that... I actually got stopped by a bus driver for the first time on Monday about me bringing him on the bus.. and he told me that I cannot bring a dog. I told him that I do this often.. so I got on the bus anyway.. he didn't charge me for his fare though because .. there is MBTA rule says that dogs has to pay for his fare.. I don't remember what the rule here about rush hour.. but i usually bring him on MBTA during rush hours... So depends on the cities I guess.. Good luck! |
Michiko, yeah i was just on the muni website to check the rules. i didn't know about the rush hour traffic rule and the fare requirement either until now. my carriers all look like purses so i shouldn't have any problems unless bunjee whines in the bag (which he doesn't). Anita, ditto to that, muni drivers attitudes are more bad than good. i've often seen people and myself too, run for the bus only to have them slam it in my face. or the bus just pulled away from the curb like 3 feet but is sitting at a red light and the driver still won't heed the knocks at the door, as if he/she doesn't see or hear you. sucks even more when it's raining. it's like, if you hate your job, don't take it out on me!!! !@#$% btw, i've been taking bunjee to the yorkie meet-ups since dec :D . you should know that this sunday's meet up location has changed. last month although it wasn't raining, allyne park was really muddy. lots of dirty dirty paws and undersides! so this month it's going to be down the street at bella and daisy's instead. i'll be there, but a little late. i'm getting bunjee microchipped at acc that day at 1pm. hope to see you there! |
Hi Hunniebunnie, Oh yeah, I had forgotten that they changed the location for this month. Good thing you reminded me =) Don't you just love Bella & Daisys? Btw, what's your name...don't want to have to walk around asking "who's Hunniebunnie?"...hehehe Anita |
it's "sandy" or "bunjee's mom" i respond to either. bella and daisy's is an evil evil place!!! :D :p you know they have "yappy hour" on friday nights right? they had valentines day portraits available last week. |
Yeah, my fiance always says that I never leave B&D's empty handed-ever! I am usually a regular at the Yappy Hour but didn't make it last week, I heard it was really fun though. You can't miss me either, I am the one with the crazy Yorkie Simba and my Chihuahua Pepe will be wearing a belly band (otherwise he's just going to mark all over the place. Will be fun meeting you!!! |
