Harley Saved Ferret's Life!
 

Yesterday I was sitting in the living room watching tv when I heard Harley barking. It was a strange bark.. You know.. they have their 'angry' bark, their 'potty' bark, their 'sad' bark, their 'pay attention to me' bark.. well this one set off my 'mommas instinct' and I took off up the stairs to see what was going on. He was just standing there shaking like crazy so I picked him up (he was in his exercise pen in my bedroom) and let him down.. The moment his little paws touched the ground he bolted out my bedroom door and as I peered around to see where he was headed I saw my Ferret walking along the hallway and my cat Demon just inches from him stalking towards him! :eek: YIKES! I FLIPPED out! But I didn't need to do anything! Bc Harley had run straight for my cat Demon attempting his most manly bark possible, tackled him, grabbed him by his scruff and slid him down the hallway away from Ferret, then he bolted back to Ferret, scruffed him gently and he pranced back into my room and hopped on my bed and laid him down! :eek: :rolleyes: He just sat there looking at me, butt wagglin a million miles a minute and I was simply in shock. My little Harley and seen Ferret escape from his cage and scoot out the door and he had barked to sound the alarm and once I let him out he saved his life! I didn't even see Ferret when I walked into the room.. If it weren't for Harley.. I'm sorry to say.. I probably would have found Ferret in Demons mouth hours later.. :( Harley and Demon are really great friends and I was suprised to see how pushy and brave he was against him.. Being that Demon is the same size as Harley lol.. But he did it bc he loves Ferret.. Dogs are so smart.. He really did save Ferret's life..

WOW ! Harley is a HERO and that was just awesome to read ! Very very good boy..... :thumbup: :thumbup: I'm always amazed when I hear stories like this and it just shows how very smart and caring yorkies really are....

How cool is that??? In my house, though, the ferret may get some trouble from my pups! :eek: Considering that yorkies were bred as varmit killers, I am amazed that Harley has a friendship relationship with Ferret, but very very glad he does!!! :thumbup:

Have you had your first session with the trainer? How did it go?

Not yet but I have been talking to the trainer and have gotten prices. Pretty good ones in my opinion but again.. the price isn't what matters.. :) I have a handful of bills to take care of before I can take Harley in for training though. So it may be a little while before I can financially begin his training and until he graduates as a well behaved pup he isn't going to be going out with me.. well atleast not anywhere that people will be around.

You are so lucky! Do you think your cat would've killed the ferret? My ferrets live outside in a screened cage and they get loose occasionally and we have a ton of cats outside and the cats don't seem to want to mess with them. I think it's the smell...or maybe cuz the cats can see them all the time and they just aren't interested. My cats are hunters too, they eat anything that moves generally.

I'm glad Harley didn't give you a chance to find out.
