Are Yorkies good jumpers? :questione My appartment is a top floor appartment of a two floor building. My Garden is a roof garden. The wall around the garden at the very top is chest high on me (i'm 5'5) so I think thats ok. But the steps going up have a wall thats about 2 & 1/2 feet in places because of the angle. Do you think I should increase the hight there a little? The cats walk that way when they are trying to get away from Mitzi, and I'm worried that one day she'll try to follow and end up falling 2 floors. :Puppy: ___________________________ :yorkiesar |
I think if there is a chance of your yorkie falling I would increase it. Yorkies are good jumpers but it is not good on their knees for them to jump. |
hehe - are yorkies good jumpers ? YES :D ....if you want visuals... you can click on my Photo Album link and look at the album named 'CHANEL Playin in the hose'.... They can easily clear 2-1/2 feet |

 OMG! Ok, i'll definately make it higher then. I'll continue to keep a very close eye on her until I do. I'm glad I asked that one now. LOL :warning: |
my yorkie can jump our 3 foot gate and i can't keep her in the back yard. just as soon as my backs turned, she is over it and running. she's fast as lightening  |

WoW!! She could be in the Doggy Olympics!! Champion hurdler :D LOL |
My dogs breeders dogs would jump over this thing she put in the doorways to keep them in one room like it was nothing. It was alot higher than a babygate. My dogs never try to jump out of anything. You never know if your going to have one that is a jumper. |
So true - and what they can't jump - they may try to climb....My youngest Cheri ....has made it over our tallest Baby Gate AND climbed trees...I had to rescue her one day - she was 3 feet off the ground in the fork of a little tiny tree just stuck there - (I watched her jump up into it and had to laugh first before I plucked her out of the tree) |
Thats amazing! I had no idea they were so agile. I bet she looked funny stuck in the tree. A Kodak moment if ever there was one! LOL Cutey lil' fings! |
It actually was funny - she got up there and didn't know quite what to do ...all I saw was her in a tree CHIRPING for help lol ...she still tries but hasn't mastered that one good jump again and I'm glad - after I laughed & got her out...I realized she could have hurt herself... |
I have a female who if you want to keep her in close a door because no baby gate or higher is going to work. She jumps like a kangeroo, straight up in the air into my arms if I let her. I swear she could jump on my shoulder and perch like a bird........haha.....Im almost 6 ft tall too. Many are VERY good jumpers. In a tree?????????????? Now that is funny!!! |

LOL!! Mine is in the "hopping" phase at the moment. I'm glad I asked you guys about this. It gives me time to make things safe before she starts jumping into my arms!! I'm only 5'5 as I said before. If yours gets up into your arms, i'm soooooooo stuffed if Mitzi is like your dog!! LOL |

I'm gonna invest in some hockey goalie gear, then she can jump at me at me all she wants, lol!!! |
Are Yorkies good jumpers ? I will enter Heidi in the next olympic games . She is expert in high jumping . |
Jasmine is very tiny, but she can really jump. I have a padded bench at the foot of my bed and she usually uses that to jump up on he bed, but the other day she decided to get on it without the bench. It took her a couple of tries, but she made it. My bed is really high. I couldn't believe she jumped that high. Murphy doesn't jump high, but long. When he and Duffy are playing outside, Duffy runs around the two fish ponds, but Murphy sails right over them and it's a long jump. He missed the other day and fell in though, it would have been funny, but I had just bathed him and it was also cold. (Yes, we have put stacked bricks and rocks so they can get out if they fall in. It still worries me, but he got out fine.) |
