A two-boy question! I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I can't find anything with search. So, forgive the repeat....... Our little Rowdy is 1 year old and we have the chance to get another puppy from his mom and dad. Rowdy is such a little sweetheart that we definitely want to get another pup from his parents - but we were hoping for a girl. His mom just had pups and there are no girls available and the breeder is not planning to breed her again - so, it's now or never. Do you think there will be any 2-male problems? Rowdy does not have an alpha bone in his body. He loves everyone and all dogs. He is not aggressive with anything. He lives with 2 other (very old) male dogs (other breeds). Does anyone think there might be any problems with 2 male Yorkies together in the same household. I ask because we previously had a Jack Russell terrier and every source recommends that you NOT have to JRTs in the same household. I'm thinking that is not the case for Yorkies, but I thought I would ask the experts! :D |
I don't know from my own experience, but I don't think that having two male yorkies is a problem. I think the only time you might have a problem is if you brought in a female later on (with two males) |
I don't think you'll have a problem if he already lives with 2 male dogs. You might have your hands full for a few days as the 4 dogs re-establish their ranks in the house (alpha) but other than that I think they'd be fine. |
I have two male yorkies. I brought a 10 week old in when the first one was 8 months old. He didn't like him much for the first two weeks but after that, they have to be together all the time and are best buds. Denero (5 months younger) will get on Romeo's nerves every once in awhile and he puts him in his place. They play rough and hard and I have to tell them to enough on occasion but I have no regrets. |
I have 2 males yorkies!!!!! They are soooo in love with each other!!!!!! |

The other male is my mom's old daschaund and he basically lives in the other part of the house with my mom. He's a bit grumpy, but we will keep the new pup separated from him for the most part. He will be OK, but it is a good reminder to introduce the pup to him and be sure that they are supervised. |

I'm hoping that is the way it will turn out for Rowdy and his brother - oh my, are they called brothers? They are from the same parents, but different litters??? |

I am 100 % sure that you will not have problems with two males . |

No they are not real brothers!!!! I had Luigi 1st, then when he was 1, we adopted a rescue who was a few monthes older than Luigi, but he is much smaller! But they get along great--ever since day 1! They have to be touching when they sleep and they clean each other and play togehter!!! They are great!!! |
I have 2 males- they have the same father, different mothers...they are 6 months apart and are the best of friends....they play together run around like nuts and if one is gone the other looks all over for his bro.....they are true buds...I would highly recommend 2 males.... |
I have experience with two girls. Chattie, my first is totally obsessed with me. She likes other people, but she LOVES me. Chattie was 7 months old when Chizzie came to live with us. Chattie loved Chizzie UNTIL Chizzie went through her first heat cycle and then it was look out. They absolutely completely and entirely hate each other. I have to keep them separated all of the time. When they get into "seeing" distance they both go into attack mode, and it isn't play. |

I would have never believed that I would have the problems with Chattie and Chizzie. They were best of friends, played like litter mates and then they grew up. I hope that one day I will be able to re-introduce Chattie and Chizzie, I have a plan of action that I hope to put into effect soon. |

When my mom moved in with us, my husbands schnauzer hated my mom's daschaund. The doxy had back trouble, so we couldn't let the schnauzer attack him (schnaz was a female, no less), so the schnaz had to go live with my daughter. It was AWFUL when they were here together. |
