How to take the pup for a walk, and not the other way around? :we're #1: LOL!! I decided to take my little angel to visit my Brother & Sister-In-Law, so we put on her collar, got the extending lead part, the one that is adjustable (if u know what I mean  ) She went out ok, then that was it. She sat and sat and sat. I thought it might have been the noise, so I took her to the garden and tried that. NOPE!! She took me around the garden and when I tried to take her where I wanted her to go, SHE SAT!!! :lol tears There are no training doggy facilities here (BIG SURPRISE!) so does anyone know how I can train her to go where I want? I tried bribing her, that didn't work either. LOL The upside is that now I know where all the good sniffing parts of the garden are :D |
lol, thats kind of cute! |
hehe, we had the same exact problem!! :p First, you should use a harness instead of a collar. A collar can damage their trachea. What is her absoulute most favorite treat? Use that and hold it in front of her nose while you're walking her, whenever she moves praise praise praise!! She'll get it eventually! Good luck. |
LOL...I remember Maddie was the same way. She just put on her brakes and didn't want to move! I read somewhere that you should practice in the house to get them used to it, so I did that and she did the same thing inside, so I used a treat to bribe her. Eventually she got it and now she loves to go for walks. Like Megan suggested, use a harness instead of a collar so your little one doesn't injure her trachea! |
Missy would have nothing to do with walking on the leash. She would plant her little ole' butt and all 4 paws right down and wouldn't budge! The trainer told us to attach to her collar a 6 foot leash and let her drag the leash around the house for a week. Take the collar and the leash off when they go into a crate. After a week of this, she started to walk on the leash because she was then USED TO IT! But, she is still very nosey when outside. She has to smell everything and it's so difficult to get her to "heel". I know it'll come with time. LOL |
our trainer talked about the treat also. Get a stick and put the treat on the end of the stick and hold in front of her nose. take some steps and then give her the treat....slowly build up. It takes awhile for some pups. |
