New to this forum! I am brand new to this forum and so far am enjoying reading about and learning all sorts of useful information. Our baby is Zoey and she is almost 4 months old and weighs in at a whopping 1 pound and 14 ounces. My question is: how do i keep her from wanting to chew on your fingers or hand all the time. I know that this is just the puppy in her, but it tends to be very painful with her razor sharp teeth! When she does this, I try to offer her one of her chew toys and sometimes this works....sometimes it doesn't. Will she grow out of this? Thanks for your help. |
Welcome and congrats on your new baby....you are doing the right thing by offering her the chew toys when she is biting you....she will eventually grow out of this. good luck to you and your little one. |
welcome, welcome, welcome, enjoy it here |
Welcome to YT!!!! We would love to see pictures of Zoey. Yes she is teething, she will grow out of it. They have real baby teething toys with water in them. If you freeze them, they love it, just like a real baby. You might want to try giving Zoey one. After it melts, just pop it back in the freezer. I did this for Princess, and it worked for her. Again, Welcome to our Yorkie Family :) |
Hello and welcome to yorkietalk! |
Hi and welcome to YT!! I am just curious about how old Zoey was when you got her? Part of what puppies learn during the later weeks of socialization with their littermates is how to "pretend" or "play" bite. The other puppy yelps loudly if a bite is too hard. She may be teething and you are right to give her teething toys if this is the case. When she bites hard you need to scream in pain even if it is not that painful and you need to remove her from your lap momentarily or move away from her and discontinue playing for 30 seconds. During this time ignore her completely, not even eye contact. Good luck! |
