Question about biting kids... Well, not really biting, but nipping.. I know that it is a dog's (esp. puppies) way of playing because they don't have hands and we have to teach them. However, Daisy has pretty much got it down that she doesn't bite me or my hubby because we have given her the firm "NO". My children are a different story. I don't really want my 4 year old to discipline so how do we teach Daisy that it's n1ot ok to nip at them? |
Any ideas? |
put bitter apple spray on your kids toes and fingers and see what happens. |
Wow, now that is kind of a hard one. Well your child is 4. I have a 4 year old nephew and I just taught him that if Bouncer or Lotte ever bit him, be it intentional or in playing, just shake your finger and firmly say "NO BOUNCER/LOTTE!" Ad he does great. Sometimes I wponder if I just got lucky that my nephew is exceptionally greta with my furbabies. lmao |
Chewy always nips at my son, he is so annoyed by it!!! I don't know because nothing I am doing is effective!!! I do shake a can full of pennies at him and that seems to be starting to have an effect. I'll let you know... |
We've lucked out and none of our pups have ever been nippy. Even when they were little babies they'd rather sit on your lap than play. However, my friend has a poodle who doesn't nip @ anyone but there 3 yr old. Alot of little boys can be noisey and a little wild which can drive a little dog crazy. I would just watch as your child plays with Daisy, and if you notice her nipping at your child you could dicipline her, eventually she should get the idea that it's not okay to nip at anyone. Or if your child my be doing some thing to prevoke Daisy, even running around and whinning can do this, you can talk to them about not doing that when Daisy's in the room. lol |
