Puppys and Rawhides???? Hello, My puppy Molly loves to chew on rawhides. A friend of mine told me that I should only give my yorkie natural rwahides and not the ones that are flavored. Is this true  Molly is 11 weeks old. Crystal |

They best thing like that to give your pup is Bully sticks. |
Rawhides What are Bully sticks? |
I heard they are really bad for pups. I would try greenies & bully sticks. :) |
I don't give rawhides cuz Gracie chokes on them. She has bones to chew on, but only with supervision and I take them away when they get stringy or pose a danger. I do give her flavored ones, but sometimes certin ones give her a tummy ache. |
Wasn't there a thread on here about Yorkies choking  on Greenies?? Only thing I'll let mine have unsupervised is cow hooves. |

If you don't like the thought of your Yorkie chewing on a bull penis then a natrural bone like a ham bone or cow hooves would do the trick. Yah, i read the Greenie chocking thread too. My girls get greenies and have never had a problem but now I watch them a little more closely when they have them. |
Rawhides Thanks for letting me know what Bully sticks are. Don't think i'll be buying them (LOL) Crystal :aimeeyork |
The only thing that I buy are any products made by Nylabones. They have some cute things out now that aren't just bones. We've bought the large keys on a ring and Missy and Muffie both love them. I wouldn't give rawhide, bully sticks, greenies, or dental chews - none of that stuff - isn't safe for their little tummies and intestines. |
lexi only chews on bully sticks and cow hooves. .they both are digestable for them. even though they smell, who cares as long as it is safe for them.. the smell does go away after awhile.... |
Winston loves his rawhides... but we've trained him well. He knows that he not suppose to eat it so when he chews it nice and soft, he'll come running to either my husband or I and just drop the chewy at our feet. We cut off the soft part and gives it back to him. We never let him chew on it without one of us being around him. |
I give Madison either Nylabones or Dentasticks. Dentasticks are good because they help remove plaque from their teeth when they bite them and it is also a great tool for them as they teethe. But I do take it away from her when she gets the Dentastick down to half it's size. |
You have to be so careful with any chewey bones and personally I wouldn't give them. My two are not interested in nylabones at all :( Sharon,Charley & Melody xx |
I had a bad experience with rawhide bones and my vet does not recommend them for any small breed dog (puppy or adult). Greenies, too, are banned in our home. You can cut a small piece off and place it in water and it doesn't dissolve...it expands and it is a rubbery material. These two use to be Mojo's favorites, but not anymore! Mojo didn't like the Bully Stick I bought at PetsMart, but I heard others had the same reaction and now buy theirs from online stores (a higher quality probably). Pupcorn is good, they dissolve easily and Mojo loves them. Nylabones are awesome too!!! |
No rawhide or Greenies for my 10. I also have some concerns about any bacteria, namely salmonella, growing on those protein items. Just my concerns.. |
