Taking pictures of my babies!!! This may go on record as ONE DUMB POST but I have to ask. How in the world do you get your dogs to sit still where you can compose a pretty picture of them????? I have hundreds of pics, each makes my dogs look like homeless orphans. Get them pretty and set up..and they move all over, jump down, play..etc. See so many of your pups all beautiful, sitting there and some are really young. Did you have to train them to stay?? I can tell you hundreds of things to do that don't work! My dogs are young (7mo to 16 wks)..learning to sit and stay but not well yet....but put them on a table all set up with a pretty background and I have 3 going 3 ways..all OFF the table. I love the outdoor shots for they are a reality in our home, but I would like a few that show how lovely my group are! There has to be some training I can start that will teach them to pose for a minute..or a camera tip I can use. When grooming I am trying to teach them the bennifits of standing still and treats for good behavior are used. Get them off the table, out of the head restraint and they are wild again. Please help me..learn how to train them to pose!! Sorry if this is in the wrong catagory. I am new here and wasn't sure where to ask this. |
Great post. I'll be interested in answers from some of the successful ones. I swear some of them use Velcro! Only thing I would suggest is to hold something up to bribe them, a treat, a squeaky toy or something else they love. It helps to have an assistent to hold the treat behind the camera so you're free to take the picture. |
Been there, done that...ever see a yorkie girl...LAUNCH herself off the table, straight at your camera lens (trying to get the toy/treat)?????? Of course while she is playing sail fish, the babes have inched their way to the corner of the table and are looking down at the floor saying "Wonder what would happen if I just jump..."""". Love the velcro idea...thought about using super glue..but its too permanent and while stuck to the darn plywood would be too heavy to pick up all of them to take them outside! But might be a good babysitting trick :D Personally I wonder if the dogs are REAL...perhaps they used STUFFED ones painted like real dogs! Hee hee! No there has got to be some tricks/training I can start to teach these hellions!! |

Wow- why haven't I thought of Velcro ?? That will be the only way this side of you know where that I will ever get pictures of mine that look like Villette's girls :D Oh well I love them anyway but sure would like good pics so lets see if someone comes up with the TIP of the day. |
I only have two answers.. One, have something in your hand that they want or don't understand.. a treat or a bell.. and always use a digital camera! And just keep on taking pictures after pictures after pictures and eventually you'll get a nice one! lol |
Not a dumb question at all. I know that lunging at the camera all too well. I sure wish I could get a decent picture of my 4. Any 'close to good' pictures I have taken has been with the help of my husband using treats. I have taken many many pictures of them just to get one fairly good one. I sure do hand it to the pet photographers that can accomplish the task. |
I feel your pain. Did you see the below thread? Now that's someone who knows how to pose Yorkies! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30370 |
I have learned to talk to them in a really soft nice voice or make funny noises to get their attention until the picture is taken. It seems to be working for me the last couple of days |
 What you dont like the rope and gag em technique ? hahaha ..come on Cowboys ..giggles ..i can just see it ..like a bronkin bull in a rodeo and only weighs about 2 lbs if lucky bring in the clowns . :p |
