Well - you did say that you think the breeder isn't lying and is just ignorant. And you said that the dogs looked well taken care of and appeared to be healthy. It could be worse! Some people don't dock the tails anymore and prefer them that way. "Dew claws" don't always cause problems and can be removed later, if necessary. "Floppy ears" may be helped to become upright or the pups ears may jump right up on their own. I see a lot of floppy-eared Yorkies on YT that are much-loved pets. Some people prefer floppy ears. Weight - shouldn't really be an issue for a pet. Large Yorkies are still small dogs and look how many of us have larger Yorkies and love them to pieces. A "Silky." It's especially hard to tell Yorkie and Silky pups apart. They are very similar. So - someone will probably get a cute little pet Yorkie for $450. If I liked one of the puppies - I'd probably buy it!!!!!!! Carol Jean |
I Don't Believe This.... Let me get this right. Puppies parents have naturally short tails, so there's no need to dock. Puppies parents don't have dew claws, so the puppy won't have them either??? Maybe, if the parents are both housebroke, the puppies will automatically be housebroke too. And maybe if the parents have never been sick, injured, or been exposed to anything, the puppy will never need shots, or to be wormed. Heck, maybe the puppies will never even have to go to the groomers!! :animal37 :omg: Thank God your sister didn't get one of them. I feel sorry for the pups, but these people don't have a clue as to how they sounded. It's like saying they had the perfect pups for anyone!! "For Sale...Insta-Pup!! Just add water and watch him/her grow"!!! (JMO) Suz |
Personally, I'd pass on this one also. You could have health issues, and the coat could be a problem to maintain as well. $450 may be a low price but with no papers, you have no guarantee that it's a true Yorkie. I'm sure there are other breeders around your area. Wishing you the very best. I know how it feels to want a Yorkie and not know who to trust. :lovewings |

I agree with everyone else do not buy from her. :thumbdown |
I can share....we didn't have a ton of money when looking for my girls either....With Chanel....I fell in love with her on site... & her price was VERY affordable.....but while searching for Cheri - I did look at ALOT of yorkies..... Tell your sister it CAN be done and to be patient....The hardest part is seeing one you want and cant afford :( ...but there are really nice yorkies out there - she just has to go see them in person and try to see the parents..... and IF she can try to save a little more money so she doesn\'t get one like you just described.....they may be just fine - but she doesn\'t need to rush into anything ....and a few hundred more my get her a nicer quality....then again - it may not. I know I\'ve posted against the high price of yorkies ....but I really feel some yorkies are just priced right out of good homes.... I use myself as an example. I just don\'t have the funds to spend thousands - but my girls have a WONDERFUL home and I\'m a good mom - what breeder wouldn\'t want that for their babies ? |

Heck no! Either she hasn\'t done an ounce of research on the breed or the art of breeding, or she is a crook and trying to scam your sister. The initial cost of the yorkie is cheap, but I have a feeling that the costs-to-come will more than make up for her "deal." |

Carol Jean- I completely agree with your post because all dogs- even the most poor representations of any breed can make a wonderful companion. However, when the breeder says that the tails naturally come short and the puppies won\'t have dew claws because their parents don\'t- she\'s extremely ignorant on the breed. Plus, how observant can she be to not even notice that the puppies do, in fact, have dew claws? If she couldn\'t open a book to read even the most basic information on the breed, I\'m not interested. I wouldn\'t expect her to have even heard of LP or LS if she doesn\'t know about tail-docking. What appears to be a deal now could end up costing thousands or could end up being a heart-breaking situation. It\'s far too risky of a deal for the buyer, IMO. |
