skinny doggie how can i put some meat on my baby's bones? he is too skinny |
You can get a high calorie food. My vet had Hills prescription diet Canine P/d. We gave it to my pup when he was tiny and he ate it well. Developed a little bot belly from eating it. There might be some high calorie dog foods that you can get at places like petco too I'm just not certain. Someone else may know. |
Has your vet confirmed your fur baby is underweight? Or do you just think your fur baby is thin and not plumpy rolly polly? If your vet feels your fur baby's weight is at a healthy range I wouldn't worry too much. If you start over feeding it might turn into health problems later. If you are real concerned keep in close contact with your vet so both of you can monitor him to make sure he is getting all the nutrition he needs. The only reason I say this is Schatzie was on the real trim side as a pup, and her vet confirmed she was always healthy and growing. Well, she never did get plump. She is long and lean now, very dainty I guess you'd might say even though she is on the larger scale for Yorkie's. |
skinny doggie Diesel is thin you can feel his bones :( the vet mentioned the other day that he should gain some weight... I had taken him in for teeth cleaning. CAn you recommend a high calorie food? |
If your vet has noted that your dog is too thin I wonder why he didn't give you a prescription formula food. You might ask if he has a high calorie food like Hills prescription diet canine p/d. Any canned puppy foods gonna have more calories. I have read that if you give your dog plain pasta it can bulk them up. Also (and I know Im probably gonna hear it for mentioning this) but cat food is a nono for dogs because it has more calories. Whatever you do just make sure your vet is aware so the dog is not putting on too much weight. |
skinny My vet... has not even returned my call from yesterday morning.. Time to find a new one who cares... |
Purina makes food with high protin count in it. pro plan also so does some of the other dog food makers. I also add 1/2 can pedigree to my dogs diet. |
skinny I wanted to add pedigree but the woman in the pet store told me that it's not good for them? |
