New Yorkie Member Hello, My husband and I just recently adopted a yorkie 2 weeks ago for my birthday, her name is Brandi and she is 7 years old, tiny lil thing, anyway what can I do for her scratching at her hind legs and biting at her paws?? and I have one more question... What kind of dogfood should I be giving her?? I am feeding her Eukneuba and Little Champions packets of Casserole Dinners with Beef, Noodles and Vegggies. Thank you for your help |
Welcome to YT! We would love to see pictures of your babies. I feed mine Purina Pro Plan...but that's just me. :) |
Hi and welcome to YT- might have her checked for allergies...one of our other dogs had them and did the same type of thing....good luck. |
Welcome! Nice to have you here! We feed the Diamond Lamb & Rice (it wasn't on the recall list and our state wasn't listed). We've been very pleased with it so far. |
welcome, welcome, welcome |
Hello and Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I feed my fur kids Diamond Lamb and Rice formula and at night they get a little Nutro Ultra canned mixed in with the dry. They free feed on dry through out the day. Regarding the itching it could be a number of things. Allergies, type of diet, shampoo not being rinsed well enough, flea allergies, etc. I would visit your vet for the best diagnosis to her itching/biting. You sure received a wonderful Birthday gift!! I look forward to seeing pictures of your Yorkie girl Brandi. :p |

Welcome to the best forum on the web!!! :D |
Hi and Welcome to YT. You will find really wonderful people here with a lot of great advise. Can't wait to see pictures of your baby. I free feed my two Solid Gold Wee Bit. Regarding the scratching/biting I would ask the vet, it could be a number of reasons. |
Hi! Dogs can be allergic to corn, which can make them itch. Corn is a main ingredient in Eukanuba. It might help to switch foods. Here's some good choices: Canidae Wellness Innova California Natural Natural Balance Ultra Premium (available at PetCo) Try Pet Supplies Plus or a small independent pet store or feed store, or the internet. You should also talk to the vet to see if there is another cause for the itching as well! |
Welcome to YT, can't wait to see pictures of your addition! |
New Yorkie Member Thank you all very much for your help I can't seem to get her picture up on the website but I got to make her a one photo album in the photo gallery if you would like to see her her picture is in there, when I can get her picture up under my name I will let you know....One more question she is scooting across the floor I am going to take her to the groomer's tomm to get her anal glands taken care of, could this make her sick?? Thanks for the help!! |
Welcome to yt. i agree maybe check for allergies but also make sure she doesnt have fleas... if its just dry skin you could bathe her with a little baby oil in the water... thats what i do. good luck with your new baby. |

Welcome to YT!!! |
glands expressed She wont like it but she will feel alot better. We have to do this alot with my yorkie and 5yearold cat because they both have soft stool all the time. The Vet says the stool has to be solid to express the glands when having a BM.If not the fluid builds up than needs to be expressed. |
:wavey:& Welcome! I feed mine Nutro Lamb and Rice and Chloe gets Nutro puppy! Can't wait to see pics of the baby! |
