My yorkie is having diarrhea. :( Hello everybody, Wow this site is a great for ppl who owns yorkie! :) I'm new here and this will be my first post. I just bought a male yorkie two weeks ago. He's 10 weeks old, and I think he's teething right now because he doesn't eat anymore. So I decided to feed him cooked purdue chicken and nutri-cal, but now he's having diarrhea. I'm taking him to vet today, but is this something I should be concern? :( |
Alot of puppies get diahrea. It can sometimes be a symptom of something else. Your vet will give you some thing for it and it should clear up in a couple of days. |
You can give them children's kaopectate - ask your vet for the dose or look on the web - I can't remember now what the dose would be for a 10 week old pup |
Isabelle had diarrhea with blood last week for 3 days. I took her to the vet on Sat. and he gave her an injection. He told me to hold her food for about 6 hours that day. She also has to take meds for a week. By that night, the diarrhea went away. Puppies are usually sensitive to changes and new environments. No need to worry. Hope she gets better soon. |
Be sure to take a stool sample with you (as fresh as possible , keep in the frig) so the don't have to take it from him. The doctor will probably test for parvo and coccidia and treat accordingly. I hope yur baby feels better soon and you are doing the right thing by getting him to the vet. |
Evidently he is having a reaction to the chicken.... Maybe you could add some baby food (chicken or turkey) to his dog food and he may start eating again.... or try the canned puppy food.... Any change in diet usually causes bowel changes. Hope he gets better soon! :) |
