My Angel Quivers when we go in the car I am out and about alot and i take My Angel with me alot and when I am working she goes ot nannies so she is in the car alot. She quivers, shakes or trembles whatever you want to call it every time we go in the car or outside. I know there body temp. drops fast and I wear a coat on her or i have her inside me coat most times. Is this common to quiver like that and never break it? Also |
Are you holding her on your lap or is she in the back seat? I hold her in my lap. I know thats bad but, I do. Lexi shakes for a little. She has gotten use to me taking her everywhere too! If you drive fast on the freeway, your furbaby might get scared. |
I also am quilty of holding he rin my arms , and after a while she sometimes may settle down but we are usually home by then. Thank you |
Stewie does this, too. He's been afraid of the car since we got in an accident when he was little. I highly suggest confining your dog in a hard sided carrier or in a carseat - both placed in the back seat. The impact of the airbag in a minor fender bender could instantly kill a dog. |
Sounds like your pup rides quite a bit. I know mine is a little afraid of the car, but if we rides more often - he's better. He is in one of those high car seats beside me. And - there is a soft baby blanket in the car seat that he can snuggle into. Also I can reach over with my right hand and pet him while we ride. He ususally falls asleep if we are in the car for more than 10 minutes. Dogs are so different. I have one dog that goes crazy to go for a ride and then seems scared the whole time. But, he sure wants to go! And another dog of mine would practically live in the car if I let her. She rides up by the back window - her window to the world. I can get her out of the car when we get home. I think you just have to work with your dog - whichever way he is. I don't take my dogs with me a lot (they usually can't go where I'm going). But I do take them to Zip Trip (a small convenience store) ---and I always get a treat for them there - which we eat on the way home. I'm sure that's why they always want to go in the car...... Is there any way you can warm the car up ahead of time? Also give her treats and act like it's a fun time. I would ease her into it if she's not used to car rides to once or twice a week. Is there any way someone can stop by the house to take care of her while you're at work? I also advise against the dog sitting in your lap while you're driving. It's a big distraction and it could cost the dog's life or someone else's in an accident. If the car stops steering wheel will crush the dog first, and then the airbag would crush or smother the dog. Also, the dog could nudge something and put you into a different gear while you're driving. Someone on here recently got into a car accident because their dog was in the front seat. She was staring at her puppy while she was driving and rear-ended someone. She felt very VERY guilty about the fact that she could have killed someone. I'm not trying to scare you or anything. I just hope no one else goes through the same thing.Good luck with your little one. |
