In need of prayers
 

I received the most tragic phone call this morning. I am still in shock. I am asking that everyone please pray for my 21 year old neice and my brother and sister in law. Some of you may remember that in November, I went to a wedding in Tennessee. I had posted about it because it was the first time my pups were going to be with someone else while we were gone. ANyway, my niece was the one getting married. She and her husband were so young and so full of hopes and dreams for their future. He aspired to be a novelist and was already working on his first novel. He was just accepted into a wonderful journalism school for the fall. Last night, for no reason known to my niece, or anyone else at this point, her 21 year old husband took his own life. He left no note of explanation. My niece last spoke to him early morning yesterday when she left for work as always and he seemed perfectly fine. She came home from work to find him dressed in a suit and lying on their bed with his glasses in one hand and a gun in the other. He had shot himself in the head. I just dont understand. I can only imagine...well actually I can not even imagine the pain she must be in right now. Sorry for rambling so long ...but please everyone pray for my niece and for her parents who are all in shock and devestated.

Oh wow. I am so sorry to hear this. I can't imagine what the family must be going through right now, let alone your niece who was the one who discovered him. I will be keeping your family in my thoughts.

Ooh, on. I am so sorry. I can't even imagine what your niece is going thru right now. It was only a couple months ago they got married. There is no words .......... Your family would be in my thoughts. So sorry ...... :(

I am so incredibly sorry to hear this. Your poor neice. :( Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Absolutely.

Oh, dear Lord! How tragic. Suicide is such a sad and lonely act and leaves those behind in such turmoil. As an old psych nurse married to a minister/family therapist, I have had so many experiences with it. Your niece and her family and his family are gonna wonder, worry and grieve all at the same time and that makes the death so much harder to bear.
What you can do at this time is JUST BE THERE for them. Words almost always don't help and we are at a loss as to how to support the loved ones. Being there to listen, hug, cry, smile and grieve with them is about all you can do.
I pray that your family as well as his, will learn why this happened but I also pray that they come to understand that they are NOT to blame. That might come in time. Please keep a close eye on your niece...She is VERY fragile and well, hopeless and she could make some rash decisions.

How tragic for your niece and I am so sorry. Just remember to keep telling her it was not her fault. When people are so depressed no one can stop them from suicide. She will be going through incredible guilt and will need the strong support of her family. I had a dear friend do this and it left so many questions and I still think of him and only wish I understood how much despair he was in.

Yes, do keep telling her it was not her fault. Years ago my brother-in-law committed suicide and my sister thought it was her fault. Then a long time later I found out my niece (who was about 6 or 7 at the time) had been thinking it was her fault al those years! They need to be reasured that there was not anything they could have done to stop it. My thoughts and prayers to your niece, and the entire family.

OMG!! I do remember you going to the wedding! This is just horrible! We will certainly keep you all in our prayers. Your poor neice, God love her.

[This is the second death like this that we have heard of this week! Patrick's daughter's boyfriend whose family lives in Kerrville, TX had a similar tragedy. His Dad ... showed no signs that anything was wrong ... just did it! Everyone is in total shock ... we all feel so helpless!]

What a terrible thing to go through and so soon after getting married.

I'm SO SORRY ! and I agree with everyone ..she needs all the support you can give her...That's just so sad and she must be thinking she's living in a bad dream....and his poor family too :( .....You have my condolences and I really hope she can get thru this tragedy in time. He must have been very very unhappy to do something this drastic and probably for a long time....
